At our resort we were offered the Coco Bongo Night excursion the travel agent explained to us it would be a really great time, we would get picked up and dropped back off at resort, taken to the place, get open bar, be introduced to a waiter who we can order from and stay in a section of our own during the night... we weren’t too sure we wanted to go but in the end we decided why not for $70 a piece it seems worth it.. well the experience was HORRIBLE the only part that was good was getting picked up and dropped off at the club.. We had the tour guide whose name was Daniel (worst tour guide ever) we were put in a line to wait for about 45mins..we were in a huge group that was in the bus and when we arrived we were put in like 3 different lines...He kept moving everyone and telling them all to stay together without even talking to us. We thought he had forgotten about my Fiancee and i so we brought it to his attention that we were all in the same group with him.. he said " oh... just stay in the line and stay together" we finally get through and at the security they tell us we needed our wrist bands that no one ever gave us and no one ever told us about, Daniel at that point was gone and not anywhere near that we didn’t even know what we were supposed to do...well after we go back in line get our wrist band and get back in line to wait some more then finally get past security we go to look for our group and we spot someone from our resort that was on the same bus so we stand with them and we all talk and introduced ourselves thinking our night would hopefully get better.. none of us were introduced to the waiter we were supposed to or were even made aware of the section we were supposed to be at.. this security guard came up to us and told us to move and that if we wanted to stand there it would be $1.000 USD to stand there(just my Fiancee and I) We told him we were with that group and that we had all came together but our tour guide didnt tell us anything he kept saying to get down and we got down and told him that we were with that group and that our guide left us and didn’t tell us where to stand he kept telling just us @ to get down and that it would be $1000 for the table.. I myself and 100% mexican and speak spanish fluently and noticed that they treated tourist different so I finally spoke to him in Spanish and asked why we weren’t able to stand with that group from or resort if they didn’t pay for that table either he basically said he was going to put it simple for me and because those girls were extra good looking and they made the section look good and he would let them stand there until the table got purchased .. i was very upset and offended.. and honestly had NEVER experienced such horrible customer service.. we still tried to have a good time by moving away from the area and trying to just not let it get to us but just kept getting shoved around by other waiters and just had a horrible time that we left within 20 mins of being inside the place. WHY WOULD I STAY SOMEWHERE LIKE THAT?? I had never felt so disrespected or humiliated in my life. We left and ended up taking a taxi home because the bus that took us there wouldn’t be ready until 330am and it was barley like 11pm.. We went back to talk to the guy who sold us the excursion to get our money back and he said nothing could be done because Coco Bongo had no record of what happened that night and we didn’t have a name of the security guy who disrespected us (he had a lanyard with a badge and picture the last thing I would think about was to get his name after all the bs we went through upon entering) They said hat when you exit the club there is a place to the right where you go to talk to customer service and place a report and a complain and all this stuff.. WE WERE NEVER TOLD ABOUT THAT! When do you ever go to a nightclub and get told that there is a spot to complain on your way out? All and all They made up numerous excuses as to why we couldn’t get our money back for the horrible experience we had.. I was very...
Read moreDear Coco Bongo Management,
We are writing to express our deep dissatisfaction and frustration with our experience at Coco Bongo Playa del Carmen on June 27, 2025. We purchased Premium Open Bar tickets for two people at a cost of $270 USD, expecting a premium and enjoyable evening. Unfortunately, the reality was far from acceptable.
To begin with, we booked our tickets through the hotel reception at Riu Palace Riviera Maya, which included round-trip transportation. Upon arrival, we were directed by a Coco Bongo staff member to a line meant for regular ticket holders. After waiting over 20 minutes, another staff member happened to check our tickets and was surprised to find us in the wrong queue. We were then informed that premium tickets have a separate entrance — a fact that the first staff member, shockingly, seemed unaware of. This lack of organization and poor training resulted in a waste of our time and a frustrating start to the night.
Once inside, we were dismayed to find the venue grossly overcrowded. The space is simply inadequate for the number of guests allowed in, particularly considering the demands of a live performance with large props, acrobatic acts, and constant staff movement. We were pushed repeatedly throughout the night — by other guests, by staff, and even by performers and equipment. The show might be impressive in concept, but it is completely diminished by the overwhelming chaos and discomfort.
The behavior of your floor staff was, frankly, insulting and unacceptable. Multiple times, staff members physically pushed us aside with no courtesy or warning. There was a complete disregard for personal space, as they shoved through crowds aggressively and brushed against us inappropriately. Their behavior felt deliberate and disrespectful. Any attempt to assert our personal space was met with hostile looks, as if we were in the wrong for not allowing ourselves to be manhandled.
This was further exacerbated by the disorganized performance logistics. Staff forcibly cleared pathways for acts with no consideration for guest safety or comfort. We were even physically struck by a performer and a piece of aerial rigging. If your venue cannot safely accommodate this kind of show, then capacity must be reduced immediately, or the production needs to be scaled accordingly. Prioritizing ticket sales over guest experience and safety is irresponsible and dangerous.
Lastly, the return transportation added insult to injury. We were strictly told to be at the meeting point by 3:00 AM or risk being left behind. We arrived on time, only to be kept waiting in the van while two other guests were allowed to finish their drinks and cigarettes at a leisurely pace. If you enforce a strict schedule, it should apply to all. Otherwise, don’t make threats about punctuality if they aren’t actually enforced.
For the price we paid, we expected a premium experience. Instead, we received overcrowding, physical discomfort, rude and unprofessional staff, a disorganized show, and a transportation process that was both hypocritical and frustrating. The entire experience was exhausting, demeaning, and absolutely not worth the cost.
We strongly urge you to reconsider your venue's capacity limits, retrain your staff on professionalism and basic courtesy, and prioritize guest safety and comfort — not...
Read moreWE BOUGHT TICKETS AT COCO BONGO! I say buy the tickets there, comparing what we paid in person compared to the outrageous prices online you 100% get a better deal in person. Don’t pre book online, you are just losing money doing it that way. You risk getting bad tickets by buying them off the street so just go straight to Coco Bongo either earlier in the day or an hour before the show starts. Look for people who have Coco Bongo shirts on right in front of the building. ALSO if someone tells you to leave your belongings on a BUS, common sense is not to! That’s not the clubs fault that’s your fault for taking advice from a bus driver. (You are in Mexico don’t take more than what you want to hold all night and if you are going to a club, chances are you will be on your feet for hours so you might want to wear comfortable shoes especially at this location. Some areas you are standing on cushioned flooring so you might be on uneven ground so wear flats or wedges is my suggestion, and it’s a club packing in 100’s of people the line is a wait just like it is all over the world) *4 girls from the US here, we also had 2 others with us from Mexico so a group of 6. We were not sure what to expect but we had the time of our lives!! We got a table and bottles. The customer service here was AMAZING! You walk in they give you a mixed drink right off the bat, you get to the window buy tickets for you and your guests and you walk in more they give you a shot. We got basic tickets at first but once we got into the club we were offered a table and bottle service for just a little more each and we are so happy we took it. ADVICE: Bring extra CASH, Money talk’s ladies if you want to upgrade you give cash to the workers once you are inside. They will sell you what they have left at a good price. So I recommend asking the employees there if you can upgrade because I’m sure you can! We had multiple servers at our table all night long. They opened each and every bottle in front of us, grabbed anything we wanted for mixers from juices, water, soda, lime, salt etc. If we tried to make a drink they would stop us and do it for us, they just wanted us to keep enjoying the show and everything going on around us. The workers like to be around a group of people enjoying themselves so have a good time and just go with it. If you are standing there smug you are not going to attract the right workers to your table. A photographer came around while we were watching the show to take our picture, it was $20US for the picture in a coco bongo frame that they later brought back to me. Best idea ever for me to say yes to that because it’s actually good quality and the only group photos we got that was clear. The show… I don’t even know how to explain the show at Coco Bongo. It’s a Vegas show on crack ha ha ha. It’s something you have to see and experience at least once in your lifetime. ALL AGES GO HERE!! If you are thinking about it just say YES and go! I did read some other reviews about safety, with my experience I felt safe. The alcohol we drank taste normal, none of us had a bad experience just a really fun time that I will never forget. Be an adult, limit your drinking so you can...
