They check every box for both amazing and phenomenal and here is why.
First, they saying "it's worth the wait" is perfect for Café y Tocino. There will be a wait. I think they may have skipped us on the list, but eventually got us in. The place is packed with eaters! You know there is great food when you walk in and see what is coming out of the kitchen. Service was amazing. Our waitres was from Acapulco and she spoke perfect English and was so polite and engaging and helpful. The manager was always watching everything in the background and saw immediately that we were not Spanish speakers and called the waitress over to tell her that the online menu was in English. These people live and breathe customer service and we're so nice. I was impressed with the training and professionalism of the wait staff there. Everything ran like a well-oiled machine. They were on top of everything.
The menu was complete and varied with really well curated dishes. The drinks met every necessity you could think of.
We started with the hot chocolate and latte. Some of the best drinks we've had on our trip. The coffee was smooth buttery creamy and beautifully presented. The hot chocolate was homemade and perfectly flavored. You're getting top quality ingredients here.
My daughter came for the pancakes but I had a hard time deciding. The waitress came in and a suggested the sandwiches. Then later she volunteered that the reason the sandwiches are so good is that they make all of their breads in house. I imagine it's either in house or homemade. I ended up getting the eggs and bacon sandwich.
The pancakes were hotcakes were like nothing we've ever had. My daughter loves chocolate chip pancakes and these were different than she ever had and probably her most favorite in her life. They were gorgeous to look at. I think the better may be something like a banana bread batter. They were dark fluffy and just beautiful to look at and even better to taste. The chocolate that they used for the chocolate chip pancakes was also an incredible flavor and if high quality period The whipped cream was thick and creamy and tasted homemade. The bananas and strawberries were also fresh sweet and delicious. Behold dish was a dream. She loved it. She was able to eat one of the two pancakes but could eat no more. And we took the other one home.
My bacon and egg sandwich was also delicious. I'm not sure if they make homemade mayonnaise but I love their mayonnaise. It was not sweetened memories. The bacon was fabulous and not typical American bacon. There was a ton of bacon on the sandwich food eggs were cooked perfectly. Almost a scrambled or omelet type egg. The bread was so soft buttery and creamy. All together it was a wonderful to eat. I could only eat half. I took the other half with me. The french fries or papas fritas appear to be double-fried and were just crispy and creamy and delicious on their own.
The food that we saw coming out all around us made us think that even though ours was amazing, we missed the boat on ordering. Here the grass is probably always greener.
The restaurant stays packed from early in the morning through lunch on the Sunday that we visited.
This place is certainly worth the wait and certainly something you should not miss on your ship to Puebla. It is the highlight of Puebla. You should make your vacation around a visit to this restaurant.
After breakfast we walk back to our apartment and laid down in bed. We were so full and satiated thinking about how great our breakfast was. Hopefully we'll get up soon and try to walk it off.

Read moreGood breakfast spot, we got sandwiches, one with bacon, eggs and cheese and another with hummus, bacon, egg and avocado, both were very good. You can choose fries or salad to be served with them and the salad was great, not just lettuce. The bread was mediocre, there is definitely a room for an upgrade. The drinks on the other hand should be improved - coffee is very average for a coffee shop and matcha was sweet without mentioning it on the menu😖 The service is good, overall the cafe left a...
