La Terrace by Cantón — Restaurant in Puebla

We stumbled upon this spot while wandering around Cholula on a rainy night, and it turned out to be a perfect find. The cozy atmosphere was even more enjoyable with just a few other diners and a couple of guests at the bar, giving the evening an intimate, relaxed feel.

I ordered the Mole Poblano with turkey (guajolote) and was genuinely impressed—it had a deep, complex flavor without being too sweet, which I appreciated since I usually prefer Mole Rojo. Our waiter recommended we start with sopes, and they were excellent—the masa had a rich, homemade taste that really stood out.

The drinks were on the fruitier side and not very strong, but still refreshing. I balanced things out with a shot of mezcal, which hit the spot.

To top it all off, when we were waiting for our Uber, the staff member at the door kindly lent us an umbrella and walked us to our car—such a thoughtful gesture and a perfect end to the night.

Gorgeous view of the pyramid. However, the restaurant failed miserably in actually feeding us. My daughter and my husband’s food was served about 45 minutes after we ordered. The server assured my son and me that our food was coming “ahorita.” After about 15 minutes, the chef came to our table and informed me that my order, pollo pibil, was not available and asked whether I would to order something else. My husband and my daughter were almost finished their meals. In the meantime my son’s very simple order of pasta still had not been served. I was looking foward to enjoying a nice meal here, the evening started pretty well, but progressively got worse. The drinks took a while, our waitress let us know that our menu would be delivered promptly but low and behold it never arrived, by this time close to 40 minutes had passed.
