NUNI Restaurant — Restaurant in Puebla

This review is written to help the owner as much as to help other customers. Firstly the food in general was very good we had the tasting menu, 3 of the 6 courses were excellent and the ceviche course was outstanding, possibly the best ceviches we've ever had. Dishes were also delivered in good time no long waits between courses and presentation was spot on. Service wasn't great, no English and no English menu (quick fix) just Google translate it and provide one, all the guests when we were there only spoke English so this is really needed in a restaurant like this. We had the drinks to match the tasting menu and then were pretty awful. I was expecting Mexican craft drinks - tequila, mezcal, pulque.etc., instead we got a bad cucumber cocktail, an ipa served in the bottle and the worst watery espresso martini I've ever had. Some real thought needs to go into this. Finally, the toliets are grim, the door is falling off the runner, they aren't particularly clean and the flush was broken when we visited. Nos invitaron nuestros hijos a comer por el día de las madres. Había ya un menú hecho por éste dia de 3 tiempos por $750.00 y a ninguno nos gustó la opción y pedimos a la carta.

Por esa razón, el chef sólo se acercaba a las mesas que pedían el menú especial, en una ocasión ya el chef llevaba nuestros platillos a otra mesa y como vió que eran para nosotros, los volvió a la barra y le pidió al mesero que nos lo llevara, es decirnos hicieron menos por el simple hecho de no pedir el menú especial.

Cada uno de los 6 integrantes de la familia pidió algo distinto de la carta para comer.

Las porciones son muy pequeñas y caras, para los que tienen buen apetito lo consideren que no se llenarán con un platillo, sólo se come con tenedor, no hay opciones como tortillas, totopos, galletas, pan etc. para acompañar los platillos, ni salsas, seguramente como son de chef y autor, ningún platillo lo considera el autor que se tiene que comer con esas opciones.

Mi mamá, una persona de 80 años pidió un platillo llamado manjar oaxaqueño, el mole estaba demasiado condimentado y con mucho sabor floral, no se pudo comer de tan condimentado, no le gustó nada y tampoco a nosotras sus hijas.

El lugar es pequeño y los 2 meseros no son muy amables y el servicio es lento, se le tenían que pedir las cosas varías veces para que nos hicieran caso. Nosotros éramos 6 y luego llegó otro familiar y le pedimos al mesero otra silla y simplemente nos dijo, ya no hay sillas.

El baño no tenía agua y la llevaron en una cubeta y para las manos en una hielera.

Fué una opción para conocer y comer distinto, no está mal, pero por el costo y la atención hay mejores opciones. Sólo pedimos cada uno un platillo, mi hermana 2 platillos y una bebida cada uno y el costo por persona fué aproximadamente de $500.00

We had the tasting menu and absolutely loved it! You can tell that the chef has immense talent and a vision where his restaurant should go. We really enjoyed the laid back ambience, but there are a few small things we would suggest for improvement: -Leave a little bit more time in between each course The toilet was not clean enough and couldn't be used later as handymen came in to fix something and we got quite desperate at the end of our long meal.
