I have to tell you about my experience, I bought quite a few garments from this place, very happy with most pieces in the “dark room” as some were folded and nicely displayed. But one particular dress, the most expensive I bought, when I was packing carefully in my suitcase I noticed a brown stain In the white lace, then I notice the embroidery flowers were frayed as they were rubbing against who knows what,.. a very long story.. I came back two days later to have it replaced, or have my money back ( you want something done when you paid a big sum for a nice dress and is not what you expected) Well, the owner Maria, told me to use gasoline to remove the stain and that the embroidery looked fine, as that was how it should look. So many other bad details I didn’t notice for trusting to much and for being in that “darkroom” were you can’t really see the big picture... Bottom line, she didn’t care of the poor conditions of the dress. She didn’t care of anything I showed of the dress... Be very careful if you buy things at this place. Is not worthy, if you have a chance to visit Oaxaca do it and deal directly with the hand-crafters. Don’t let them fool you like they did to me. I’m very dissatisfied and embarrassed of this people. We want to show a different side of Mexico but some people like her, insist of taking advantage of the customer and cheat you.
Read moreNot what it used to be… I live in the city and I had visited this place several times in the past and I always had a good experience… until today: we had to wait long time before the waiter came to ask what we what to order (more than 30 mins after being sat at the table). The food took as long to come, and for our great disappointment, we ordered the Tlayudas as usual but this time the portion was mostly tortilla with “unto” and very little meat and cheese. When I asked the waiter about this and why it was this way if in the past the food was well served, he replied: “I’m sorry Sr., but this is the portion of meat and cheese they order us now to put in the tlayudas and in fact many customers had complained about the same”. It was really sad to hear that. I know this is not his fault, since he follows the orders given to him, but whoever took this decision does not understand that this kind of things will just scare the customers away!!! We know inflation is on this sky and that things are very expensive, but I honestly would understand to pay a bit more to receive a good meal and not to put a lot for a tortilla with unto and some pieces of meat. I’m questioning myself if I should go back there soon. I hope this message reaches whoever needs to change things. BTW, during the time we were there I saw how two customers left the place even before they receive attention for the same reason…...
Read moreOverpriced food. The last time I went there with my family, we asked for bread, or some kind of cake so we could have it with coffee. The waiter stated they were out of bread and desserts, so I went out and got a little brownie from a cafeteria across the street. The waiters captain followed me to the table and asked if he could help me out with anything, to which I replied that I was ok but had to get a piece of bread for my grandmother so she could have it with coffee since they didn't have any. The captain then stated they DID have some bread that was 'just delivered by a lady who got it there all the way from Pinotepa Nacional' and I asked him to bring us a basket of it. Bread ended up being 50 pesos apiece... I think that is very much self explanatory. Food always, and I really mean ALWAYS, arrives cold to your seating. Tejate lacks taste, enchiladas lack flavor. Coffee will be cold no-matter-what-or-when. I think that this place was so full of itself that the staff simply stopped caring about the customers. I much rather going to Tikúa from now on, a place that might be a little more expensive, but the quality is also much better by all means, and it is just a few blocks away. Such a shame... María y su bici used to be a good...
