I went today for the menu del día. 120 pesos. It would've been very helpful for me to have the menu choices written down. I am not fluent in Spanish, but I can read it quite well. While the server was very patient with my questioning, it was difficult for me to understand the menu options. I chose the crema poblano and the pork dish. Now, when she was describing the options she may have said something like "roasted pork ribs in a mixed berry reduction accented with alfalfa sprouts". I understood "cerdo". The crema was excellent, with delicate flavors in a warm, creamy base. I was a bit surprised when I was served three pork ribs with a slightly pink reduction. The two or three pieces of blackberry and raspberry gave away the origin of the pink color. The plate was rimmed with alfalfa sprouts. No vegetables, no rice, no frijoles, nada mas... Two of the ribs were tender, one was quite tough. The flavor was of slightly salty and sweet pork. Not terribly interesting, but good pork flavor. Very different from what you would expect from the usually strong, heavy and complex flavors of Oaxacan food. I don't blame the restaurant, I blame my lack of fluency in Spanish to understand the description of the dish. The menu Del dia comes with aqua Fresca (today Jamaica or Sandia, with refills) and gelatin or arroz con leche for dessert. The other options were chicken, beef or vegetarian. The other soup choice was a noodle soup. Service was fast, polite and efficient. They had an incredible amount of servers for the number of patrons in the...
Read moreI began with ordering a jugo de verde and server repeated “cafe”. It went downhill from there. Ordered huevos rancheros w/o ham and it was delivered with ham. Returned it explaining again, “I don’t eat ham”. It was returned by removing the ham slice off of the original plate. I then, in writing explained to another server that I wanted a freshly made order w/o ham and he agreed that I would only be charged for what I consumed. First server delivered my check and double charged me. I’ve been apologizing for the misunderstanding throughout yet someone hasn’t been trained on how to handle these types...
Mis cuatro estrellas son porque el dueño es bastante cuadrado, cero flexible: Hay un patio que pudiera pero no es “pet tolerant” porque el dueño no quiere, vale, acá cada quien es libre de aplicar el derecho de admisión;
