Baransu Sushi in Akumal: A Revelation for Sushi Lovers As seasoned travelers and discerning sushi aficionados, we've sampled our fair share of Sushi places. Our recent encounter with Baransu Sushi in Akumal left us very surprised. This brand-new establishment is a true gem. The menu has an array of innovative maki rolls, each a symphony of flavors and textures, some drawing from the Mayan scene. We were particularly blown away by the Unagi roll (forgetting the name) which was torch flamed at the bar prep area right in front of us. But the true star of the show was the nigiri. The fish was unbelievably fresh, melting in our mouths with each bite. The presentation was impeccable, showcasing the chef's meticulous attention to detail with delicate slices of peppers and other touches that were perfect on the pallet. Baransu Sushi is a must-visit for any sushi enthusiast visiting Akumal. It's a testament to the power of creativity and a true celebration of the art of Japanese cuisine mixed with Mayan flare. Came here for dinner on a Monday evening. Situated right by the Taverna, it's easy to locate.

We ordered many rolls, a poke bowl, some sushi pieces and the miso ribeye ramen and the cheese/shrimp appetizers. Would recommend everything except the ramen. This was difficult because we're really used to authentic ramen from places all over. But this is not their strong suit sadly.
