Blanca Blue: A Culinary Oasis with Ocean Views
Blanca Blue isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. Perched beachfront at the Garza Blanca Cancun resort, it offers breathtaking Caribbean vistas alongside innovative Mexican cuisine. From the moment we were seated, we were greeted by the attentive and friendly Isaac, whose service truly elevated the evening.
Our culinary journey began with a tableside guacamole preparation. Isaac expertly mashed fresh avocados, incorporating vibrant chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and a touch of lime, creating a vibrant and perfectly seasoned guacamole. Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavor, and the showmanship of the tableside prep added a touch of theater to the experience.
Next came the ceviche, a dish that showcased the restaurant's commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients. The plump, translucent seafood was bathed in a citrusy marinade that was both zesty and refreshing. The accompanying accompaniments - diced avocado and red onion - provided a delightful textural contrast.
For the main course, I opted for the ribeye fajitas. The sizzling platter arrived adorned with perfectly grilled strips of tender, juicy steak. The accompanying sauteed peppers and onions were cooked to a delightful char, adding a smoky sweetness to the dish. The warm tortillas were ideal for creating delicious fajitas, each bite a symphony of savory meat, caramelized vegetables, and a squeeze of fresh lime.
My companion couldn't resist the allure of the creme brulee. The glistening caramelized sugar crust gave way to a luxuriously smooth and rich custard underneath. The contrasting textures and decadent flavors were a perfect ending to a truly exceptional meal.
Throughout the evening, Isaac's service was impeccable. He was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu recommendations, and always available with a warm smile and a friendly suggestion. His genuine hospitality played a significant role in making our Blanca Blue experience unforgettable.
In conclusion, Blanca Blue offers an unparalleled combination of stunning views, innovative Mexican cuisine, and impeccable service. From the tableside guacamole to the decadent creme brulee, every dish was a testament to the chef's culinary artistry. Special thanks to Isaac for making our evening truly special. We highly recommend Blanca Blue for anyone seeking a memorable and luxurious dining...
Read moreOverall we wouldn't come here again. We were staying at Villa del Palmar, the sister hotel next door and this restaurant was included in our all inclusive plan. It was our least favorite dinner of the five places we ate.
Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The restaurant space is beautiful, it's a more formal feel than some of the others, but beautiful and clean. Beautiful artistry with the plating of food.
Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Everyone was exceptionally warm and fun. They explained the menu carefully, answered questions, and we're fast and non intrusive. We had a very pleasant time with Daniel and Daniel (our double service team shared the same name).
Food: ⭐⭐ Ultimately whether service is good or not it comes down to what you're eating at a restaurant. We had a few very solid appetizers/starters including the tuna ceviche and corn soup. The rice and shrimp starter (similar to a risotto) was one of our favorites and I could easily have come back for more of that alone.
Sadly all the mains were just okay. I got the short rib, which was pretty dry. My friend got a rare steak which came out medium well and under seasoned. Neither of us had more than a bite or two of our dishes. The sides were also uninspired plain vegetables without any seasoning, acid, or herbs to liven them up. My partner got the catch of the day fish which was pretty good! Fish was juicy and flakey and the sauce was bright and spicy.
Desserts were both pretty bad. My friend got the flan which was dry and gummy. I got a lime sorbet which was not at all lime flavored and had a very unpleasant orange gel layer that was not tasty or good texture to eat. Similar to the mains we each had a bite or two then simply didn't want to eat it.
The dishes are all beautiful but we didn't enjoy anything after the starter round very much.
We also had a few drinks which were all watery and bland except one which tasted like straight alcohol. Not very balanced mixed drinks it seems.
I gave a final ⭐⭐⭐ three stars because there were a few very good things on the menu and service was fantastic. Maybe we got unlucky, but go next door to Davinos which had the most amazing food of our trip...
Read moreLocated right at the front of Garza Blanca towards the ocean, this restaurant has some of the best dining views. The food was very good, plenty of unique adventurous dishes if you like trying things you might not otherwise order unless you're on vacation at an all-inclusive. They did have a children's menu as well. We found with all the restaurants on the two properties, portions are pretty large, so if you like trying multiple appetizers or entrées try asking for half portions. We didn't learn this trick till the end...
