Thanks to Mike for looking after us for the day on the beach. It was a pleasant day.
+The give you a little ice cooler for your beer/water!
To be aware of, the beach beds are close to the road which means the golf carts going by do cause some noise though they are not too frequent but something to consider if easily disturbed.
Rented a beach bed for the day, mxn 1000 for the day + 15% service (total 1150) per person.
1000 towards consumption of food and beverages. There was a second option which was 1600 per person but that included towels, pool and shower facilities. We opted for the former however pool looked good!
Beach beds are comfortable, nice views, service was good throughout the afternoon.
Some people have commented on the cost + the added service. Whilst I agree it is slightly more expensive than other places along the beach, we never once had to find Mike for drinks or food, didn't need to wait long for our orders and were checked on every time he came out to another guest. So on balance, seems reasonable for our experience.
To provide context for others, costs; Corona 87 mxn (80 at similar places up the road) Guacamole 400mxn Margarita 260 mxn (180-220 up the road) Espresso 60 mxn (same as...
Read moreThe food was excellent! Definitely try the bone marrow risotto! We went back twice just for the risotto. The sushi was fresh and did not taste fishy at all. We just had the salmon nigiri and left wanting more. The entertainment was very good from live music to a cirque du soleil type show. The only complaint we had was that some of the staff were rude to us on a night that they did not advertise was a staff only night at the restaurant. No sign or anything was advertise about this being closed for staff only and we sat and waited for a bit until one of the staff members came over and told us it’s private for staff. The rude part was about the other staff members laughing at us for being out of place. Other than that little moment, it was a very...
Read moreConfirming what others note: the food here is comparatively VERY expensive for the island. You're paying for the lovely experience and the often nightly shows. Service is erratic, with well-intentioned but poorly trained staff who aren't very intuitive, take forever to navigate the touchpads, and need VERY SPECIFIC DIRECTION to avoid food allergies.
The same meal ordered two nights in a row came out prepared wildly differently. Martinis — on the menu — were watery and overloaded with vermouth despite being ordered dry. Short ribs were only available "well done," and chewy vs. tender. Just all around meh, and disappointing for the price.
Food is fine, but geared for American tastes. Try it once, watch the show, but...
