Poseidón — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

Lovely beachside à la carte restaurant near Grand Palladium White Sands Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Nice, relaxing and romantic vibes here. The seafood here is pretty good and fresh. We got the Octopus Ceviche, Classic Ibiza Salad, Fish Soup and Creamy Corn Soup to start. We shared the Seafood Rice and for our mains, we got the Octopus Frita and the Blue Cheese New York Steak. For dessert, we had Graixonera Pudding and Catalan Cream. The Octopus Ceviche was very flavourful, fresh and well presented. It was my favourite from all the items we ordered during our dinner. Lots of mosquitos here and they even offer you bug repellent to spray on your body before sitting down to dine amongst palm trees, white sandy beaches and a beautiful sunset if you are lucky. Servers here are helpful and friendly. There is one private dining space secluded from the rest but I think you need to pay extra to sit there. Took almost two weeks to book this restaurant and led to a disappointing anti climax. Main food was cold (had mixed seafood platter) soups were basically salty broths. (we teiwd all 3) and drink service took ages, as with all the palladium restaurants, service was quite bad. the waiter was rwlaly nice anf had lots of tables and people he was attending too bit for a 5* hotel, i expect more. We had no light throughout the entire dinner. had to hold phone torch over food whilst trying to peel prawns. Overall 3* is an overstatement. Maybe the scene and decor, eating by the sea/sunset and friendlieness of staff won these 3* from me but when it came to the crunch ( food and service) it let the place down. I can't speak highly enough of this restaurant. To be honest we have enjoyed all the different restaurants the resort has to offer but this one stands out amongst them all. We ended up eating here after another restaurant got our reservation wrong. The Resendiz Captain Daniel was amazing and could not have been more accommodating. He fitted us in when he didn't have to, nothing was too much trouble for him. Our waiter Diego was outstanding. Professional, polite and super efficient, he made the experience for us.
