Sunset Strip Steak House & Grill — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

Eat here twice during our stay. Both times they sat our group on separate tables despite the fact we'd confirmed with them that it would be ok. The service was extremely slow, to the point that the food was cool when it was served because it had evidently been sat there a while. One occasion I ordered the 12 hour brisket and they gave me a steak knife, which I thought was strange. Turns out the meat wasn't as tender as you'd expect after being cooked for 12 hours and you did need a steak knife to cut it. One occasion we were told we had to have a set menu because of the group size, this had never been mentioned during booking or confirmation. They would bring a random 'selection' of sauces to the table instead of the ones you ordered, and we had the wrong sides turn up too. Sunset Strip Steakhouse? An absolute joke. We tried to get a reservation all week—nothing available. We showed up on a Tuesday and the place was completely EMPTY. The host wouldn’t seat us and said it was “reservations only” with no waitlist. Really? An all-inclusive resort where I can’t eat at a half-empty restaurant because you “only take reservations” that somehow never exist? We asked for a manager—same story, no help whatsoever. Then he had the audacity to tell us we could pay $250 if we wanted a table. What?! I have the money, but why the hell would I pay $250 just to sit down in a restaurant that’s already included in what I paid for? Absolutely ridiculous.

This was really good. I would go back again but our time was limited at the resort. We ordered the petite filet mignon medium which was delicious. Sides we got creamy spinach with grilled veggies and waffle fries. Ordered a second round of sides because it was small for 2 people. Starters we got sliders but wasn’t a fan, the fried shrimp and onion rings - the sauce is a sweet chili which compliments the shrimp well and we also got the crispy iceberg salad with mojito sauce which is pretty good and mushroom chowder.
