I was looking to escape the crazy of Playa Del Carmen and looking for a nice beach club to relax and hangout at without spending a ton of money. Xalmar exceeded my expectations! I recommend making a reservation and arriving early so you can get the loungers you prefer. It costs 500 pesos per adult and 400 of those go towards food and beverage consumption. They have a ton of shade and the loungers were very comfortable. The food was delicious and fresh, I got the garlic shrimp and it came with half a mango which was a lovely surprise. The drinks were not very strong but super tasty and not artificially sweet which I enjoyed. I recommend the piña colada, carajillo and aperol spritz. Our server was very attentive. The bathrooms were very clean and they have a shower outdoors so you can wash off any sand before going home. Getting here without a car would be difficult. I was originally thinking to take a collectivo but the road to the beach club from the highway, while easy to walk is quite long. We took a taxi from Playa Del Carmen and arranged with our driver to pick us up at 5:30PM. It cost 500 pesos each way and he drove straight to...
Read moreWe came back here after 5-6 months and were just shocked! From a beautiful beach club with perfect service and great food, this place has turned into a terrible eatery. Very very expensive eatery. I wanted to order my favourite oysters from Baja (it was amazing last time for 50 pesos each), but now they only have small regular ones FOUR PIECES FOR 290.. what?.. 45 minutes they made this terrible pizza (16usd) with cheapest ham and raw hard pineapple. the dough was very strange and bitter⊠Ok, letâs try ceviche. Not possible to cook wrong ceviche in Mexico. We never had. They did!!! âLiquid smokeâ in ceviche? Maybe your cook is an idi@t? What a shame.. The service was just nothing. no one apologized for the bad food. The aperol spritz was just orange-flavored water. Sixteen bucks for orange-flavored water. Nice. And for everything you will pay extra. It was another fun when 70 years old security guy asked me why I went to the beach club from the public beachâŠ)))
Ok, so.. Please donât spend your money and time for that terrible place! We planned to stay 4-5 hours but we left after a couple of hours and we NEVER...
Read moreI live in playa and have been to the beach club 8,9 times in the last few months, I was there for the last time! The last treatment from the staff was subterranean and very disrespectful to a guest who always tips well and is very friendly to the stuff. We were first chased away from our seats in the first row of the beach in an unpleasant way (although open until 6pm, we were told to leave our seats at 5.30 and go inside although the first row also costs more than the inside area of the location), after we went inside we were not asked to pay in a very friendly way although there were still many guests and we were not the last. When I asked what this was all about and what kind of behavior this was, I was answered with complete indifference without any apology!
Conclusion: I was very happy here in the past, 0 pesos tip, after this behavior, I will never come back, those were also my last words that day⊠*Notice for the...
