This was such a hit! We were a group of 4 (3 Mexican and 1 Puerto Rican), so the expectations for good Mexican flavor were high — and this place absolutely delivered. We felt like this was high-level cuisine, where we had direct views into the kitchen where the food was being prepared. We also received a warm welcome from the owner and a detailed understanding of what exactly we were eating from our wait staff (as in Michelin-awarded restaurants).

We started with the cocktails. I had the “Por Si Te Vas” and swapped the tequila for mezcal — it was very tasty (they have their own provider for their mezcal, which was very, very good). We shared all the dishes tapa-style and started with the molotes de plátano maduro, which was a wonderful way to start the meal; the mole it came with was rich, slightly sweet, and had a flavorful aftertaste of almonds.

Then came the tacos de brisket. I expected an American BBQ flavor, but this took me back to a barbacoa de penca. It was so smooth, smoky, and delicious — probably my favorite. The flautas de short rib were good as well; the sauce and aguacate mousse at the bottom of the dish complemented the crunchy texture of the flautas.

The sopes were amazing — the barbacoa had an indulgent sweet and spicy flavor — could have had more! I was getting full by the time the gorditas de lengua came by, but the masa of the gordita was so delicious, and the lengua bites were perfectly cooked.

The last dish we had was the lechón — which made the Puerto Rican very happy! I was so stuffed by then I only tasted what I wished I could eat more of (will definitely have to go back and order again). Crispy on the outside and fresh, juicy pork on the inside. The mole was also exquisite — richer and more bitter.

To finish the meal, we had the banana bread with tres leches rompope (pan de plátano) dessert. A perfect sweet ending to an indulgent, delicious, and elevated Mexican meal. Makes us proud as Mexicans bringing our friends and family from afar to explore the different tastes and flavors of our gorgeous,...

We stumbled upon this charming place while looking for somewhere to have a cocktail our first night in San Miguel. They make their own pulque, which we had wanted to try, so we sat at the cute little bar and thoroughly enjoyed some fantastic cocktails made by our super nice bartender/host Temo. The mezcalita of the day was incredible, made with a hibiscus syrup and fresh squeezed fruit juices. He also gave us tastes of pulque, fried grasshoppers and scorpions to try.

The food menu looked amazing and we had such a nice time so we came back the following night for dinner and wow- everything was amazing. This is 5 star authentic but modern Mexican food, beautifully presented. We had the corn soup w hutilacoche and the pozolito to start, both were light and full of flavor. The beef barbacoa sopes were wonderful. Our favorite was a pork tenderloin with plantains in a white mole, which we'd never had before. It was creamy and very slightly sweet and nutty, absolutely delicious. For dessert we had caramelized bananas with dulce de leche, blueberries, nuts, pepitas and sesame seeds that came out bubbling in a cast iron skillet and it was excellent.

The ingredients really shine and complement each other in every dish and it's all light and not heavy at all. We got to talk with the chef, Jesus, throughout the evening and this restaurant is a labor of love for he and his wife. He said they wanted to create a place where you feel like family, and we certainly felt welcomed as though we were, it was a wonderful evening. Agavia is a hidden gem in San Miguel, definitely go and enjoy Michelin quality food at unbelievably reasonable prices in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Thank you Temo and Jesus for 2...

This is a secret little gem in Centro but in a quiet area and just a few blocks from the Jardin. Amazing food - true Mexican style that uses a creative mix of local ingredients that explode in your mouth with flavor and freshness - the chef is a true artist., This is a charming little place with cool small bar and varied small intimate spaces. My sope with goat cheese and several vegetables and who-knows-what-else was absolutely amazing and so were the brisket tacos my friend had. Super friendly welcoming place with staff who really care about their food, take pride in it, and enjoy making their guests happy. I've walked by the door of the place so many times with my dog and finally stepped in because a staff member waved me in - even with my dog. I thought it was just a tiny bar but when you step inside it is a total surprise - in the way that I love SMA. After reviewing the amazing menu, I decided to eat. What a lovely surprise to find this amazing place !! Great prices and one of my favorite dishes in this whole city that I've called home...

What an absolute gem of a dining experience! We had a fantastic dinner with 10 friends on Agavia’s rooftop. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and an inviting ambiance that set the stage for a truly memorable evening. Every dish was a work of art, meticulously crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients that burst with flavor in every bite. Jesus and Nelcy, the couple who run the restaurant, are lovely and they went out of their way to accommodate our various dietary needs (vegetarian and gluten free). Their menu features unique Mexican dishes, many of which are family recipes. Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was also top-notch. The pacing of the courses was just right, allowing us to savor each dish without feeling rushed. The ambiance of the restaurant was another highlight. We ate on their gorgeous rooftop with beautiful views of San Miguel De Allende, cozy decor and soft lighting that created a beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
