We visited San Miguel for two months; so while we enjoyed splurging on a meal every now and again, we needed to find a go-to restaurant that was both reasonably priced and served varied and delicious meals. That’s what we found with El Encanto. In fact, we would playfully refer to it as “our kitchen.” We recommend starting with a pitcher of their fresh squeezed fruit water called “aqua fresca.” From there it’s hard to be disappointed by any of their main courses. Their pizza is thin and delicious with the vegetarian pizza being covered in the freshest of veggies. The enchiladas are wonderful and the sandwiches and hamburgers are great. Many of the meals come with a nice side like a salad so your meal feels complete and you leave full. Note that using US American expectations it may seem like the staff or not attentive, but we’ve found that it is mostly cultural in that staff give you space to enjoy your meal in peace; you just need to ask if you need anything. The prices are really good by both US American and local San Miguel standards.

We stopped here for a quick bite after visiting Fabrica La Aurora, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the atmosphere, food, and service. First of all, this is one of the cutest restaurants we’ve been to in SMA, the natural decor juxtaposed against the colorful murals and statues is so aesthetically pleasing. Our waiter was very nice, and food came out pretty quickly although we were the only ones there at around 5 pm. I got the tortilla soup and my husband got the arrachera plate. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the portions were pretty generous. If you are in the area, definitely don’t miss this casual dining spot!

Arrived in San Miguel on a Sunday around 4:45. To my surprise most of the downtown restaurants at 5:00 pm. Thank God for El Encanto - they stay open until 6:00 pm. Had a couple of ice-cold beers and a pretty good pizza. Certainly large enough for two people. Thin crust, nicely charred edges. All in all not award winning but forMexico a way better than average. Not very busy but service was great guys were ver friendly and attentive. Looked like a pretty good International menu. I would go back for sure. (Ignore the tomato and cilantro decoration on the pizza).

I'm still scratching my head wondering what went wrong. Visited at 8:30pm on a Wednesday ... Maybe the timing was bad? We should have turned around when we noticed it was empty, but we decided to go in. The service was friendly, helpful, not too involved but attentive enough. No problems there. Ambiance was cute, brightly colored, but kind of felt odd with no one else around.

The drinks were very sweet, clearly made from pre-mix, not very interesting or tasty.

The food ... We probably should not have ordered pizza, but several reviews mentioned the pizza was good! Ours was not good at all. We ordered the caramelita with caramelized onions and pear. The onions were definitely not caramelized - they had been added to the pizza raw and still tasted minimally cooked. The pizza dough itself was actually raw in the middle. Again, maybe we showed up too late and the cook was in a hurry?

I really dislike leaving bad reviews because I know people work hard, but this experience was just overall SO disappointing. Perhaps others would have better luck ordering the Mexican food? Perhaps things are different during the day? But I will not recommend this place nor...
