Had fish tacos, they were just okay, nothing special. Margarita was kind of bland, probably my worst one yet in Cozumel. The reason for the one star is they have some pretty shady business practices.
They require you to pay an entrance fee to get to the club. It is not very nice, just a porch next to a rocky beach. I was told the hotel beach chairs were not for us. Kind of lame but whatever I love the ocean so I was digging it. I got my bill and did a double take. Ordered two cocktails, one plate of tacos for a total of $610 pesos. I got my bill and it was for $610, no credit. Also the waiter asked for a tip before he ran my card, kind of awkward.
I paid and figured my math was wrong because of the margarita or something. But as I walked away I got kind of mad, just got ripped off basically. Turned around, went back to the girl who sold me the tickets. At first she said probably just a mix up, and it was okay. I was like no but I need a refund, this is not what YOU said. She said okay I’ll get my manager. The manager and another waiter were quietly talking to each other looking at me. I went over to them and asked what the deal was. The manager again tried to say it was all correct. I pulled out my calculator and added up the totals for the cocktails and tacos. $610, minus $400 entrance (my wife and I) l, should be $210. I think they finally realized I knew what was going on, and they refunded me.
I don’t appreciate being ripped off. If you don’t either I would recommend staying away. Maybe go to Bucannos, that was...

My wife and I have been going to Cozumel for over 30 years, without a doubt it is one of our favorite places to vacation and relax in the Caribbean, Charming people proud of their culture and history!
We decided to visit Playa Azul Beach Club on a Wednesday and check out the hotel for future visits.
We paid an entrance charge of $20.00 to get in, no problem with this as I realize a business has to generate revenue to operate plus this fee could be applied to food and drinks.
We noticed after a few hours there were no waiters coming by our beach chairs so I headed up to the bar to get us a couple of drinks as it was getting hot outside.
I was informed by a manager that we could not order from the bar and had to inform a waiter what we wanted, OK no waiter came by and after quite some time I wandered over to the Hotel Bar beside the beach club to get a couple drinks.
The staff at the Hotel Bar informed me that I could not order anything there since we had a beach club wristband on and were not hotel guests!
OK back to beach and wait on waiter to come by and inform us that we could not order any drinks without ordering food! This was the final straw for us and we decided to leave and walk over to Buccanos Beach Club where we were welcomed and treated very graciously.
After our experience at Playa Azul we will never stay at Playa Azul hotel or beach club...
Read moreDon't bother stopping here, but if you do, double-check your receipt before paying. There's an entry fee of 200 pesos per person, which they say is applied as a credit towards your food/drink bill. We paid this in cash to the security guard after parking and received our wristbands. When we got our bill at the end, they took our wristbands for the credit however, after reviewing the itemized bill we noticed they charged us again for the entry fees on our bill, then credited us. We explained that we already paid the security guard, so they needed to remove the entry fees off the bill entirely and only give us the credit. They tried telling us we miscalculated, so we added everything on our calculator to prove they were overcharging us. They remedied the bill without debate after that.
By far, it was the worst ceviche we've ever had at a restaurant. The specialty shrimp ceviche was served to us raw, where it was still grey in color and not fully cleaned. They also used large frozen mango chunks and had huge pieces of jicama so you couldn't get a proper mix of everything in one bite . We asked for more lime juice to thoroughly soak the shrimp while I finished cleaning them and had to wait 15-20 minutes until it was "cooked" well enough to eat. Fried calamari was also overcooked, very chewy.
The only redeeming parts of our experience were the view, piña...
