(Last visited 12/17/2021.) It's our last night in Cozumel and we wanna go out with a bang! So we did some Yelp'ing, found this place and freaking walked 35 minutes from Cozumel Center to get to it. Lol. We could've Uber'ed, but we needed the exercise. Now I'll tell you why Buccanos was so amazing AND worth the walk.
Atmosphere/Appearance: So Buccanos is a beach club. You come here during the day to chill out by the crystal clear water, hang out in the pool, relax on the beach, dine and just get away. The restaurant is woven so cleverly into the club. It's an enormous place with so many places to chill, hang with friends, enjoy intimate time with a loved one or just escape from the busyness of life. There's an outdoor pool, beach access, fire pits, an upper deck to dine under the stars and just so much here! This place was so elegant, especially at night. So chic, fancy and it just made me feel good being here.
Service: Our server was amazing as expected. We had everything that we needed and without wait!
Food: So we started off with some Xcatic Martinis! I can't remember what was in it and as I check the online menu it's no longer there, but it was decently sweet, lil’ spicy, fruity and tropical tasting. With our drinks came these complimentary FREAKING DELICIOUS cheesy Parmesan biscuits. OMG they were fluffy, soft, warm, gooey and practically perfect. They come in this cute lil' tray of 3 with the "B" initial on it. We asked for extra and it wasn't a big deal. Next up was the Buccanos Suchi Roll. This too is no longer on their online menu, but I know it involved salmon and a bit of spice. It was succulent, soft, tender, savory, a smidge spicy, but very well balanced. Lastly, I had the Chef's Risotto. It's a blend of squid, octopus, shrimp and mussels. It was deliciously creamy and temperature hot. The calamari and octopus throw the texture off for me. It also had a strange after taste, but very good. I’d get it with only shrimp next time.
Value: If you've read everything I just typed, then you should know this place ain't gonna be cheap. Lol. It's a beach-club that's a total lounge at night. My martini was only $8.00, the sushi was $12.00 and my risotto was $23.00. Things were cheaper than I had predicted and I loved that. You can definitely come here to splurge.
In conclusion, I NEED to come here again whenever I'm in Cozumel again. I loved everything about this place. I'd love to come here during the day and watch the place transform once the sun sets.

If you find yourself in Cozumel and crave an unforgettable dining experience, Buccanos is an absolute must. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed into a warm, upscale-yet-relaxed atmosphere, complete with breathtaking ocean views and a front-row seat to one of the most spectacular sunsets you’ll ever see.
The evening began with a Coconut Martini, a perfectly crafted cocktail that balanced tropical sweetness with a silky, creamy finish. Buccanos' bar offers a fantastic selection of mixed drinks, each one as enticing as the next, making it hard to choose just one!
For the appetizer, I went with the Crispy Shrimp Pops—a dish that alone is worth the visit. The perfectly crisp shrimp, paired with the bright and refreshing Mango pico, delicate julienne apples, and a touch of creamy feta crumble, was an explosion of textures and flavors.
The menu at Buccanos is extensive, offering something for every palate. For my entrée, I selected the Buccanos Seafood Skewer, and it did not disappoint! This masterpiece featured tender lobster, shrimp, octopus, and fresh fish, all grilled to perfection and served with a flavorful seasonal pico. Every bite was a celebration of the ocean’s bounty, expertly seasoned and cooked just right.
To end the night on a high note, I indulged in the Affogato with Bailey’s—a delightful combination of espresso and ice cream, enhanced with the smooth, rich flavor of Bailey’s. It was the perfect ending to a phenomenal meal.
Beyond the food, Buccanos offers an ambiance that elevates the experience. The friendly and attentive white staff ensures every guest feels special, while Chef Inez, the lovely owner, adds a personal touch to the dining experience, making sure each dish is crafted with passion and creativity.
With its incredible food, world-class drinks, stunning views, and impeccable service, Buccanos is an absolute gem in Cozumel. Whether you're looking for a romantic sunset dinner, a celebration with friends, or simply an unforgettable meal, this is the place to be....
Read moreBuccanos at Night was a wonderful dining experience and, for me, the high point of this visit to Cozumel. Particularly for a first time diner, we were made to feel like established, valued patrons. The owner made a sincere effort to optimize our dining experience including making sure we were seated where we could enjoy the view and warning us away from one of our wine choices by giving us a sample and a critique. She dropped by our table 4 times throughout the meal, including personally serving our dessert choices so they wouldn’t grow cold from inattention. Service was prompt, attentive but not cloying from a group of 4-5 who circulated rapidly and attentively and watched our wine and water glasses and our progress on each course. Seating was comfortable and maintained social distancing and wait staff were masked. Although open to the outside, temperature was well controlled with 4 large heaters on a night that grew colder and rainy.
Numerous, fresh, imaginative, seafood offerings, featuring local species on both the fixed menu and a shorter list of specials, were varied enough to support multiple visits. We began with two specials, a sesame seed crusted flash-grilled fresh tuna and 2 crispy fried soft shell crabs with 2 mild but flavorful dressings. Both were perfectly cooked and plated with dressed, mixed greens.
Our dinners were a fresh lobster risotto that was both creamy and al dente and a mahi mahi that was seasoned and cooked to the point of a tender center. The fish was accompanied by shoe string crisp fried potatoes. Both were excellent and serving sizes were moderate to large.
Our desserts were a mildly bitter chocolate brownie accompanied by 3 two inch scoops of vanilla ice cream and a handful of fresh caramel pop corn and an caramel apple cobbler with 3 similar scoops of house made cinnamon ice cream.
Wine choices by the glass were limited but adequate.
We saved Buccanos for the last night of a 6 day stay and I wish we had gone the first night so that we could have returned a couple of...
