If I could give La Curva Sports Bar more than 5 stars, I would. This place is hands-down the BEST Mexican restaurant in the world. Everything here is handmade, authentic, and bursting with traditional flavors that you just can’t find anywhere else. They’ve been serving Rocky Point for over 40 years with the same owner, and you can feel the love and care in every single bite.
One of my favorite things about La Curva is their platters—you can try a little bit of everything, which makes it perfect when I bring friends or family who are visiting. It’s the ultimate way to taste all the Mexican classics in one sitting. The chile rellenos are perfection, and their shredded beef enchiladas with ranchero sauce? Truly life-changing. I don’t usually go for red sauces, but their ranchero sauce is absolutely out of this world—rich, savory, and unforgettable.
Even their salsas are standouts. They bring out a red-and-green hot salsa that is fiery, almost too hot to handle… but it’s so delicious you can’t stop eating it 😋.
La Curva is a true hidden gem in Rocky Point. Authentic food, incredible flavors, and 40 years of consistency—it doesn’t get better than this. Whether you’re a local or visiting, do yourself a favor and eat here. You’ll...
Read moreAll these years of coming to Penasco and living here full time for the past 3 years....first time at La Curva. If you are a party of 2-4 people, order the Mexican Fiesta Platter. It's got everything. Chimichangas, chili relenos, tostadas, and a couple other things, everything was stuffed with beef, except for the chili relenos which were cheese. Large portions of beans and rice, plus guacamole and sour cream for the main dishes.. 630 pesos or about $35. Plenty of food for 4. The platter comes in two choices 2 people or 4 people. I ordered the 4 person platter for my friend and I. Needless to say we had 3 take home boxes full of food. We didn't get any alcohol drinks, but two cokes. Entire bill was 670 pesos or about $40.00 and enough food to take home for another meal, maybe two. I don't know any place in the U.S. that you could feed 4 people -WELL - for under $50.00. That is if you don't order cocktails. They had many fine choices on the menu, from seafood to steaks to Mexican foods. Lots of shrimp dishes to choose from. Maybe next time. La Curva is definitely worth it's 4...
Read moreAfter years of going to La Curva I felt betrayed when I went on July 24, 2022. I ordered the steak breakfast plate which had refried beans with cheese, hash browns, tortillas and a steak. The refried beans tasted off and tasted like it was days old. I could not eat the beans. I decided to tackle the steak. Which looking at it now I should not have eaten it. It was a medium rare steak that looked like a grey pork chop with pink in the middle. Not even 6 hours later and I began projectile vomiting, chills, headache, diarrhea and uncontrollable shivering. I knew I had food poisoning. Today (July 25, 2022) I am stuck in bed sipping what little water I can get down because of bad beans and steak.
Outside of that La Curva is a staple restaurant when you go to Rocky Point. It was always our go to breakfast place with great service and food. But ever since Covid hit and with today's national inflation problem it's qaulity and service has gone down. I don't plan to eat here anymore, though my friends will. But I'll warn them of how bad the quality is before...
