Our trip to Rocky Point this time finally included going to Lucas Charbroiled Chicken on one of the main streets of Rocky Point. When we got there, we were ushered by some folks who would for a donation clean your car. We were there around 3:30 p.m. and it was not crowded. Other times we have passed the place and crowds were big. As we went in, we could see the chickens being grilled and the smells was glorious. The staff were very friendly and told us to sit where ever we wanted. The orders are simple. Few items. We got a half chicken and it came with pickled onions and thinly sliced cabbage and a lime. You could get corn or flour tortillas or a bit of both. We also ordered a separate side of rice and refried beans. Best part was the service being fast. Before we knew it the order was in front of us. The chicken has to be to best charbroiled chicken I’ve had in a while! All of it was delicious, the perfectly cooked skin, the meat was juicy, not dry and even the meat right next to the bone had flavor. I suspect they leave the chickens in a seasoned brine for at least more than a day to achieve that kind of flavor. Cooking over hot coals also does the trick. When the grease and juices fall on those hot coals it comes back in the way of an aromatic smoke. Smoke is an ingredient. Another great aspect of eating chicken here is that these chickens didn’t look massive as far as the meat portions go. In the U.S. we have chickens the size of small turkeys due to all the hormones they get. These chickens at Lucas weren’t that type. Another reason why they tasted better. It was more natural; you could tell by the softness and consistency of the meat. I don’t know how their chickens were raised but I suspect they were not full of anti-biotics or hormones or anything like that. All this was paired perfectly with the other items. You could make yourself a taco or burrito with all the garnishes along with the beans and rice. The salsa they brought with this order was great too. Or just enjoy the chicken on its own. Either way, you can’t go wrong. It waw so good we took a whole chicken to go for later. I know we’ll be back there for more next time we go to Rocky Point. Best part is there is a sister restaurant in Coolidge, AZ. For sure I'll be going there to compare. I hope it's as good. Regardless...this might be my new favorite chicken. The prices are current as of 10/2025 and are in Mexican Pesos.

The smell alone will draw you in! This place was great. It was our first time - we walked in and didn't know what to do - but someone was kind enough to ask us if we were dining in or carrying out - we were dining in so they told us to sit anywhere and they'd be right with us. The miss who took our order knew enough English to tell us what came with what and what portions were like so we knew how much to get. We went with an entire chicken, beans (which were seriously SO good), mac salad and rice. It was a great amount of food and came out to less than $20 USD. Food was brought to us in less than 15 minutes and everything tasted great - except for the mac salad, it wasn't bad, but I quickly decided it wasn't my favorite item on the menu. My only complaint were the folks coming in off the sidewalk to sell various goods; I admire their hustle, but please, not while I'm eating inside a restaurant. Overall - atmosphere is simple. Cobblestone floors, semi-open layout and the strong smell of the charbroiled chicken. Bathrooms were a little too 'public' if you catch my drift. But everyone was friendly and the vibes were easy going. Will definitely return. In fact - I think I'll grab some food to go on our way back to the States!

Pollo Lucas is a humble roadside staple that absolutely delivers. The menu is simple: pollo al carbón (half or full), rice, beans, and handmade tortillas. That’s all you need when the flavors are this dialed in. The chicken is grilled over charcoal until it’s smoky, salty, juicy, and just the right kind of messy. Every plate comes with salsa, pickled red onions, lime, and cabbage to pile into warm, freshly made tortillas. We ordered one full chicken plate with all the sides for 238 pesos in June 2025, and it easily fed 3 adults and 2 toddlers. Service was fast and friendly, even with a full crowd. It can get busy at dinner and on weekends, but there is plenty of shaded seating under the palapa. Everything is outdoors, and they prefer cash, so come prepared. No frills and no fuss. Just honest food cooked over open flame. A must-stop if you are in Puerto Peñasco.

As a dedicated food enthusiast, I feel it's my responsibility to share my recent culinary experience at Pollo Lucas in Rocky Point, Mexico. To put it simply, this place is a gastronomic treasure. With an insane value, moist chicken, incredibly fast service, friendly staff, and outstanding side dishes, this restaurant is a must-visit for any food lover.

Upon arriving at Pollo Lucas, we were greeted with the warmest of smiles by their genuinely friendly staff. It's evident that they take customer satisfaction to heart, making everyone feel welcome and at home. From the moment we sat down, we were met with incredibly fast service – a testament to the restaurant's efficiency and dedication to providing top-notch dining experiences.

Now, let's talk about the main attraction: the chicken. Pollo Lucas serves the most succulent, moist, and flavorful chicken you can imagine. Each bite was a symphony of perfectly balanced spices and a delight to the senses. It's clear that the chefs at Pollo Lucas have honed their craft to perfection, ensuring that each dish sings with unparalleled flavor.

As if the chicken wasn't enough to satiate our cravings, the side dishes were equally delectable. The beans were rich and velvety, the rice fluffy and flavorful, the salsa a harmonious blend of zest and spice, and the tortillas – oh, the tortillas – were fresh, warm, and simply heavenly. These accompaniments elevated the meal to an even higher level of satisfaction.

And now, the cherry on top: the value. It's not often that you find a restaurant that offers such high-quality food at such an affordable price. Pollo Lucas truly understands the meaning of value, allowing patrons to indulge in a mouthwatering meal without breaking the bank.

My experience at Pollo Lucas was nothing short of exceptional. The five stars I've awarded this restaurant are truly well-deserved. If you find yourself in Rocky Point, Mexico, do not miss the opportunity to dine at Pollo Lucas – a culinary gem that is guaranteed to tantalize your taste buds and leave you craving more.

I have been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. Always the first place we stop at, and the last before we leave. They only serve chicken, rice, beans, and tortillas. They have sodas and water; I haven't seen any beer. Simple, but awesome. If you are driving too fast, you'll miss it. On weekends, this place can get really busy, and sometimes its hard to find a place to sit down. Be prepared to wait up to 20-30 minutes for your chicken, if its packed. They accept dollars and pesos. The servers are really nice, but don't expect the same service you get in the states. You seat yourself, and the server will come to take your order. If its busy, then be prepared to get up and grab your own drinks from the refrigerator. When you are done eating, go to the cashier and tell them what your ordered, and you're done. CASH ONLY. It's in an outside setting (watch out for flies), so dress accordingly depending on the weather. There are some fans around to keep you cool in the summer. NOTE: You will get some vendors who come through and try to sell you something while you are eating. When you go back to your car, you might see your window wiper up. That means one of the kids/guys probably washed your windshield and is looking for a tip. Don't let that scare you off, this place is super cheap and delicious,...
