Tacos El Molcajete — Restaurant in Sonora

New edit 07-30-2023.....It's been a year since my last review. So, after Covid, even here in Mexico, all prices have gone up. I started going back here because their tacos are still pretty good. I try to update my comments as needed. This place has gotten better with portions. Tacos and the side plate are filled and heavy. So once again I'm upping my stars to 4. OLD REVIEW..... I used to go to this place at least once a week. They lost me as a customer. All prices raised. A shrimp taco is now 60 pesos or $3 dollars. Shrimp is the cheapest thing you can buy in Penasco. Not only have they raised prices but the tacos are tiny, will little meat. I know things are more expensive lately but come on....this is Mexico, not Los Angeles. I can get a kilo of the large shrimp for 300 pesos or $15.00 - 1 kilo = 2 lbs. 15 pesos for a pack of flour tortillas at any store. 1 kilo of shrimp makes about 30 tacos. Do the math. Not only have they skimped on the tacos, the side plate of pico de gallo, cabbage, cucumber, limes, guacamole, and salsa are lean also. The smallest container of guacamole I've ever seen. We ordered the special for three people and wow it was HUGE and delicious! The only problem is that there were so many flies in the restaurant trying to dive bomb our food that we were spending more time swatting the flies away from our food than actually eating it! We are not talking about 1 or 2 or even a few flies we are talking about 10 or 15 flies trying to swarm our food, it was ridiculous and disgusting! We got so upset we asked for a to go box so we could eat our meal at home.. The staff was just standing around watching us battling these flies and they were laughing amongst each other like it was a joke? Why does this place not have screens covering the restaurant? Who would eat here with so many flies dive bombing your food? If it wasnt for the flies I would have given this place a 5 star rating.. I hope the owner of this place reads this review and does something about their fly problem.. I wonder how many flies land on the food before its...

Best tacos. We had al pastor, asada, lengua and an order of sopes. Everything was so tasty. Would go back in a heart beat. Prices were fine.

Edit: We came back 2 years after the positive review above. We were highly disappointed. I’m not sure if there was a change in management. The food was terrible; we all had tacos: al pastor, lengua, and asada. The meat was leftover meat from another day and it was cold, tough, dry and flavorless. The corn tortillas were hard and dry; my husband had the flour tortillas and he said those were fresh. But the meats were just horrible. I would not return. We did visit on a Thursday night and it was empty but they should not serve that. They should have good...
