Xochimilco Restaurant — Restaurant in Sonora

Very confusing restaurant to rate. Atmosphere is fun and colorful ( it’s open air, so if there may be flies). The added kids playground is great, however there’s some really shady characters about on street. Maybe bc it’s next to strip club. Our server was miserable, but he managed to smile at the end. He dropped basket of chips on table and they toppled over. He pushed what he could back into basket and just left it for us. I imagine he would have brought us a fresh basket, but we didn’t bug him for it. The salsas were not fresh, or seasoned. Cilantro in pico was brown. My husband’s coctel was fishy. My son’s arrachera tacos were amazingly seasoned. I ordered aguchile verde and it was amazing, best marisco dish I had the entire time in PP ( although the texture of raw shrimp was difficult for me, so I’d ask for cocida next time). Rice was okay, beans were disgusting, burnt mush and the French fries were the worst I’ve ever seen. My fault for ordering in Mexican restaurant, but I needed something familiar for my 6yo. I usually travel to Puerto Peñasco and have visited this place repeatedly. This past weekend I went and had a negative experience. A couple gave us some beers because they were leaving from the place and since they were already paid for, they gave them to us. Minutes later the waiter came and told us that that couldn't be done and immediately picked them up and threw things away. I feel, as a customer, that it is very selfish on the part of the restaurant manager since my family and I continued to consume there. It seemed disrespectful to me. The way they acted if something was already paid for. Who are the restaurant managers to decide who you can give the things you paid for? Oh no. But in the end, for my part, they have already lost a customer and maybe they are not interested, but with that behavior, your business will go...

Always looking to try new places. This one was disappointing. Restaurant very slow. The staff was standing around mostly. Took forever just to get our drinks. They were very good once they arrived. Took even longer to get our food. About an hour after order. The manager seemed to be running around and directing but the staff was not listening. Yes several tables got their food and drinks before us when they arrived after us.....blah blah blah. The food was ok. We definitely felt like we were not wanted. Honestly it's the first time I felt that in 40 years of puerto penasco patronage. The atmosphere was great. Outdoor setting in town on a beautiful morning. I will try again in a few months.
