La Monchosa — Restaurant in Veracruz

Let me first start by saying that the quality of the food is stellar. That's not the issue. I have been here many times and I have always loved it. Was looking forward to dining here during my stay this time in Veracruz. Arrived and as per usual so many servers to quickly help. I have always had the tiradito but this time asked one server about the difference between that and the tiradito especial. He was very specific hence why I ordered it. Let's just say what I received wasn't even remotely what was described. Again. The quality of the Huachinango...incredible. The rest left much to be desired and there wasn't an ounce of leche de tigre. Next...oh the poor pulpo that I ordered. Was looking forward to this. I should have just gone with my gut and ordered it unadulterated a la brasa but the server suggested another presentation. Wow. What a mistake. The garlic chips were so burnt it ruined the entire thing. Any chef who even spent one day in cooking school or a home cook trying garlic chips out for the first time knows there's a fine line between a garlic chip and a burnt garlic chip (even if there's just one culprit) and what it can do to your entire plate if you cross the threshold. This was it. I said as much. Asked for the check and sure enough they had the audacity to charge me for it. It has already been reversed with my credit card because that was uncalled for and sadly I won't be returning based on how they handled it. Unfortunate all around. I still recommend anyone and everyone to try this place because again the quality is stellar. Just no...

En mi primer visita no esperaba mayor sorpresa, pensé que sería un lugar más de mariscos en el puerto, la realidad fue completamente diferente; la gastronomía es de una calidad excepcional (aunque como en todo oficio, lleguen a haber detalles que son justificados ante una gran propuesta). La idea en torno al diseño, los pequeños detalles incluso en los posavasos y el trato por parte del personal resulta ameno y llamativo para cualquiera que los visite. Al ser una “taberna”, la propuesta gastronómica languidece ante el ruido exagerado de las mesas vecinas (por lo que, en horario concurrido recomiendo ir en grupo), pensaría que es exageración, pero en caso de ir en pareja, recomiendo asistir en horario de apertura con reservación previa. Nuevamente, reitero, son cuestiones que pasan desapercibidas, pero que en caso de querer disfrutar plenamente y con conciencia la comida, debe ser mencionado para beneficio del próximo visitante, así es posible sentir de unas forma más íntima la propuesta que este espacio ofrece (la cual, se agradece bastante). Nota adicional: La carta de vinos es variada, pero un tanto reservada, por lo que, en caso de ser enófilo, es posible llevar un vino acorde al gusto, ya que el personal amablemente lo mantendrá en la temperatura ideal para...
