Maria Maria Cocina de Origen — Restaurant in Veracruz

Maria Maria Restaurant is located in a good place, with a good terrace to enjoy the meal outdoors.

It is offered a large menu with Mexican food, from cold and hot starters and appetizers, soups and salads, to mains which could be meats, seafood or fish.

I had the chance to try Tostas de cochinita pibil, which were extraordinary. The meat was tender, to its cooked point, topped with pickled onions. Chicharrón de pulpo (octopus) was also a good one, crispy outside and tender on the inside.

However, we were not lucky this time. Most of the plates we ordered, they run out of ingredients and became unavailable. This happened to three or four different dishes ordered. It is a pity that a restaurant like this doesn’t forecast enough food until the end of each day. Another incident happened is that one of the oysters ordered came in bad taste. Of course, restaurant apologized and served another plate in exchange at no cost.

To finish, we were recommended to order a coconut tart and it was a very good choice. Similar shape and cooked like a cheese cake, this tart comes with a cookie base. It didn’t taste that much of coconut, but good enough to leave the perfect taste in your palate.

Service here unfortunately was not as desired, with long wait times between plates or having to remind servers about drinks or plates...

We just came back from Maria Maria and we’re still talking about the good experience we had! My husband’s meat was cooked to perfection and the cut was goooood! When Giovanni (our waiter, he’s excellent, ask for him!) asked how my dish was and told him I didn’t like certain thing, his suggestion fixed everything! We went to celebrate my bday and when I mentioned it, next thing I know, they’re singing Happy Birthday to me, it was great, thank you guys! We’ll definitely be back soon! PS. We tried many of the restaurants on the strip by the ocean at Andamar, and this one is our favourite so far. The waiter Rodrigo was extremely kind & helpful and took care of our toddler during the dinner like he was is own kid. The Barbacoa de Picanha is absolutely delicious.
