El Popular Camote Restaurante — Restaurant in Yucatán

This place is great! With each drink we ordered there was a little plate of one of their dishes (very much like the way tapas started out), so we only needed to share one meal. We ended up with a ceviche feast. The small dishes were octopus and fish (Mero, a type of grouper), and the main was carocal (conch) and it was amazing. The staff and owner are very friendly, and the atmosphere is laid back in a Yucatan way, so more laid back than you may be used to, which just means you need to relax more.

My wife and I tried this spot while on a cruise. You take the community van to get to Chelem for about 25 pesos each or $1.50. They have an okay Beach for swimming nearby the restaurant with lots of nice shells in the sand. Everybody that we spoke to (using translator) was extremely friendly and glad to lend a hand to someone that isn't very familiar with how it all works. This area does not accept us dollars fyi but I was able to exchange at a gas station chain (and grabbed some yummy local candy). Our entire meal was less than $20. This was literally the best fish I've ever eaten. Such flavor, I can't wait to have it...

Comenzaré diciendo que no soy alguien que suele dejar muchas opiniones, solo las dejo cuando de plano me sorprenden (para bien o para mal)

Lamentablemente en esta reseña fue para mal y aquí les dejo a detalle los motivos:

Pedimos (mi esposa y yo) limonadas minerales, es por mucho la limonada más ácida que he probado. Parecían de los dulces “warheads” de limón, imposible no hacer una mueca de “suprramadre” De entrada, que nunca pido nada, pedí una empanada de queso… neta que asco el sabor del queso, fue simplemente malo. Trajeron unos totopos, frijoles negros y salchichas en algo que parecían con mayonesa y chipotle que sabían (todos, si namames hasta los totopos) horribles. Llegó la comida, pedimos filetes. En contexto, si estás en el mar, esperas que tenga una frescura distintiva a lo que el supermercado te puede ofrecer… lamento escribirles que el sabor fue aún peor, un tanto acartonado, feo… de plano, este si me provocó ascos y mal estar general.

Si, en definitiva, para la calidad que venden el precio está por los cielos. No se me hubiera hecho caro si el sabor hubiera sido bueno, pero tristemente fue todo lo contrario.
