As a regular customer and former restaurant owner here in Chelem, I am compelled to write a review after seeing a recent review from a very dissatisfied patron. It's one thing to discuss your experience at the restaurant, the food, service, atmosphere, etc. But it's difficult for me to believe such statements like, you're a better cook than the chefs, the food was bland, the bisquits were not flakey but hard, the eggs were undercooked, it took forever to get your food. It sounds to me like you were just not happy because it was very busy, and it took longer to get your food. I dont believe that every single aspect of your visit was not good! I, for one, can tell you that their food is not bland, the chefs are well trained... and guess what... sometimes restaurants get busy. But, for you to give a restaurant 2 stars greatly affects their true status. Shame on you! It's a difficult business. Next time, take your complaints from only one visit to the owner or manager and give them another shot. If, in fact, you have the same experience, then submit your findings here. Otherwise, I suggest you refrain from defaming a restaurant since you feel you're a better cook... maybe it is best to stay home and cook...

I rarely, if ever, do negative reviews. We picked this place because of the high reviews, so I feel compelled to speak up. Orange juice and sausage gravy were great. Friendly service. We waited an excessively long time for our food. The biscuits were the opposite of light and fluffy. They were hard and cakey. My scrambled eggs were underdone and slightly runny. The beans were bland, completely tasteless. The rice tasted as if it were only seasoned with day old grease. The breakfast burrito was also bland, the chorizo is the only thing that saved that. It was the worst food that we've had in Chelem, and we've been here for 4 weeks. They also allow smoking on the outside dining area, which is inconvenient for non smokers. I am not a great cook, by any stretch, but even I am a better cook than who they have working in the kitchen. Utterly disappointed, we will not be back. I did convey this to them as well, and I also refused the free dessert, as that was not what I was after. I volunteered that I didn't want or need a discount either. I just would want the feedback, if it were...

We stopped in just as they opened the Restaurant it was nice. In the times we have visited we have Good Service, the Flavor is always Good, Portion Size is Good. Nice Atmosphere. We have been there when they were slammed, things worked okay. Reasonable Disability Access. We have returned many times when in the area and will return. Mid February 2022 another visit introducing a friend to the Restaurant, a few details which the owner requested in response to my review. The toast arrives to cool to melt the provided butter, I am not real fond of the butter itself. The coffee still varies from day to day. Eggs over easy, México in general does not do eggs over easy. Places we frequented NOTB gave 3 slices of bacon. It is 50/50 as having to ask for spoon for sugar for the coffee. To many this may seem picky, this in response to his question as to move my 3 star review to 4 stars or higher. Saturday is now Biskets and Gravy day, pretty Good Flavor. Jan 2023 it appears management has changed, service...

I’ve eaten here twice now. The service is lovely, attentive, and he speaks English for those still learning Spanish. Today I had the CroquetMadam breakfast and it’s definitely got a local flare to it! You can see the egg was perfectly cooked and gooey! Yum. I asked for my bacon crispy and that was a win for sure and the tea service made me want to stay all morning and write as the world goes by. The béchamel sauce is a thick gravy consistency rather than the lighter ones I have had before. Not bad, just mentioning the texture is denser than I imagined.

I live in Progresó but friends from Chelem recommended Que Onda Café for the Biscuits and Gravy and was not disappointed.. We ordered it along with the American Breakfast which comes with bacon, eggs and potatoes..(toast) if just ordering the American Breakfast by itself. Service was very friendly and attentive. PS: The Biscuits and Gravy are on the specials board and offered on Saturday & Sunday only..

Wonderful! We ate here twice on our recent trip to the area. Very cute little cafe with great breakfast. I had the chicken chilaquiles (special) both times- added an egg on top on my 2nd visit. My husband loved the croque madame. The owner is trouble, I mean Trouble haha, he said that's what people call him. He was friendly, accommodating and nice as can be.
