Was very much looking forward to enjoying the food at Tacomaya. But unfortunately, I am a rather large man, and it is dangerous for me to sit in those plastic chairs most restaurants in the Chelem area use. Because of that, I had to order to go. first day, the server was very nice, and he said, unfortunately, we can not service you for an hour because of people that came in to eat. I said, ok, there were around 4 tables. I said, no problem, I will see you tomorrow when it is less busy. I came back the next morning, and the kind server said let me see how long it will take. While he was checking, the person I assume is the owner, ponytail and a ball cap, hastily walked past me and blurted out, you are going to have to wait at least a half an hour. There were 3 tables. One had one guy only. The other two where couples. While i would have loved to sit and enjoy a meal there, I could not. So because i was ordering take out, 2 days in a row, i got treated like I did not matter. Funny thing is, I tip better than the people that were sitting. Oh well. Read moreMy Wife, Children & I were first introduced to TacoMaya by friends (Who love the restaurant) in Dec. 2017 in their previous location & it was a great experience with excellent food & a terrific vibe. This year we are back for a lot longer & have visited the newer location several times. Almost every time we have tried something different & it is always excellent! The place is just great, with a laid back feeling & you can tell that a lot of effort goes into this place, including the food, attention to detail, attractive pricing, etc. Everything on the menu is a winner & we will continue to go back. We stay in Progreso so the only drawback for us is we can’t have beers there because we have to drive back from Chelam, not a biggy (Only reason for 4 stars & not 5 is selfish because we can’t walk there, have beers & walk back) Highly recommend this spot as the owners are great & Mexican & all other meals...
Read moreTacoMaya is always a must when friends or family visit us. Visited today with family, and they absolutely loved it. The food is delicious, a cute atmosphere, great prices on food and beverages, and we are always greeted with a smile, and leave with have a great day! My favorites are probably the burrito, chimichanga, and fish tacos. However, everything I’ve tried there has been delicious. Huge portions, too! The owners, Trevor and Belinda, really want your experience to be excellent which means a lot....
