This has to be the best high end restaurant in El Cuyo. We have eaten at a Lot of places in town and this place is amazing. The atmosphere and general vibe is relaxed but a bit classy at the same time kinda of place you probably need a shirt to feel comfortable. The owner is very welcoming and his english is fantastic. The waiters and waitresses are attentive and understand enough english to get by. With our limited spanish we had no trouble getting by. It was so good the first night we went back the next. We were craving beef and we both ordered thier burger. It was maybe a 1/2 lb patty on a great bun cooked exactly to order. It was amazing. Definitely the best burger I have had in months and I eat a lot of burgers. It's priced accordingly but definitely worth the investment. I will have it again before my vacation is up. The next night we went back and got the steak. It's called picanna steak I believe. Once again fantastic cook precisely right and very flavorful. Not tuff and pretty lean. It's a generous portion. I'd geuss possibly 12 oz. The mash potatoes were good and the grilled onions perfect combination with the steak. This is priced very reasonably. You could not get a steak like this in the usa for anywhere near this price. I would say you would pay 2 to 3 times the price in any small town USA for a similar steak.

Definitely a must...

This is THE BEST place for dinner in El Cuyo.

The service is EXCELLENT.

Their pricing is very competitive & reasonable, considering that the quality & quantity of the food and beverage you receive exceed the price they charge.

When it comes to comparing restaurants in El Cuyo, they undoubtedly provide the best value for money.

Our gratitude goes out to expat owners Alexandro & Maria and their team of 6 local staff for always providing an enjoyable dining experience to long time residents and visiting tourists to El Cuyo.

They have the best salads in El Cuyo.

They have the best chicken wings in El Cuyo.

They have the best red wine in El Cuyo.

They have the best steak in El Cuyo.

They have the best desserts in El Cuyo.

They use the freshest ingredients.

No worries about mosquitoes here as they burn natural repellents to keep them away!!!

We have eaten at many other restaurants in El Cuyo over the years.

This is the #1 restaurant in El Cuyo.

They open from 5pm onwards.

Be sure to come in early before the line up begins as they can get very busy with lots of repeat and regular customers.

They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Have a Grrrreat time ......

It was a pleasant surprise. By accident we entered “ZAPOTE” just to have a drink. No problem for the staff, but she warned us that if we might have a look at the menu we probably will eat.. Of course we did! Thank God for that! But first, as we don’t drink alcohol we asked if it was a problem to make a virgin Mojito. I used to love them with Rum. The Mojito was perfect.. Check! Mmm.. Should we maybe have a starter, as we are here now.. Ceviche with schrimps & fish (catch of the day” and Tortillas with meat and chipotle. Life doesn’t need to be complicated to be good.. this was the perfect start! Finally as main course we had a green salad, catch of the day and the Campeche shrimp's. Both dishes were served with mashed Plantain Bananas and a green vegetable a bit similar to Spinach.. Anyway, all of them simple but sooo tastefully! Fresh ingredients cooked with the heart and passion = Great food experience! She told us… The food is great here! And not to mention the staff! Thank you for the hospitality and we wish you guys a lot of succes with this great place full of good food and vibes! Side note: Great music you were playing same passion...

A Culinary Highlight of Our Trip! This restaurant was hands down our favorite dining experience during our trip. Everything about it—service, ambiance, and food—was absolutely incredible. The level of care and attention from the staff made us feel truly welcomed, and the setting was both elegant and inviting. The food, however, was the true star of the evening. The ceviche alone was a masterpiece, with a sauce so delicious and perfectly balanced that we couldn’t stop raving about it. The grilled meat, prepared over an open flame, was cooked to absolute perfection—juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. Every bite was a delight for the senses. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. If you’re a lover of exceptional food and impeccable service, this is a must-visit!

A Memorable Meal! Zapote, tucked behind Naia Café near the center of El Cuyo, turned out to be one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in the Yucatán. This little restaurant is run by a team who have created something special, paying attention to even the smallest details—like the real hand towels in the bathroom, which was a nice touch. The food is what truly stands out. When the 10-hour oven-braised short rib was brought to our table, I couldn’t help but say, “Wow.” It was plated with mashed potatoes and chaya (mayan spinach) that added something unique to the dish. It tasted as incredible as it looked. We also tried the green salad and the oven-roasted tomato soup topped with pumpkin seeds, which my husband and I agreed was one of the best soups we’ve ever had. It’s something we’ll definitely order again before we leave. The staff is friendly and clearly proud of their work, which makes the experience feel welcoming and genuine. The menu has plenty of variety—everything from artisan hamburgers to vegan dishes like roasted cabbage, and even pulpo. We’re already debating whether to go back two nights in a row. Zapote is the kind of place you’ll want to visit more than once. If you’re in town, it’s worth making the time to stop by.
