Portofino — Restaurant in Bar

Upon arriving at a restaurant I asked an older waiter if there is any available tables on the balcony upstairs (as this area is used for food service). He answered in a really rude manner 'we really cannot serve there we are swimming' followed with raised tone and waving with his hands. I was confused weather the area is closed or is it that I'll just have to wait a bit longer if I decide to sit there (which I wouldn't mind). I double checked with a bar tender if there are tables available upstairs and she said yes. There was noone upstairs but me. I already knew what I want to order, as I specifically went there to try one of their sea food specialties. I waited for over 35 minutes for someone to take my order and when noone came I went downstairs to ask for a book of complaints as this was obviously done intentionally as at this time half of the tables were available downstairs and the one taken were having drinks only, but the very same waiter said they don't have book of complaints. If all of this was communicated with me differently I would ether sit downstairs and cope with the kids screaming or I would've left. As a local I'm not supprised by this people rudnes and and way of communication, but I am a bit ashamed as this country runs on tourism and hospitality. Lovely food and great service at a very fair price. What else could one ask for? We were thirsty and hungry and decided to seat ourselves in an Italian Restaurant that on the first look of it looks rather fancy. We were expecting to see high pricing bit were proven wrong. Modest pricing on the menu. We ordered two different kind of salads, a pizza and a pasta dish. They all turned out better than expected. 10 Euro for a lovely salad... 14 for a pasta with fresh ingredients... 14 euro for a pizza frutti di mare.... This is a decent restaurant. Everything looks nice. The decor is beautiful. There’s a variety of food you can enjoy.

What I disliked is that there are too many people sitting outside on the premises of this restaurant who smoke. Even if they sit far, the smoke gets onto you. This has to be taken into account.

Of course, people can sit and eat inside and, that might help solve the problem in part. But what if I want to sit outside as well? Then, I automatically find myself surrounded by dozens of smokers.
