Two friends and I enjoyed a tour of the mosque across the street on our last full day in Morocco. This restaurant looked cute, so we walked over for lunch and to enjoy the view.
The restaurant staff we interacted with was accommodating until we were seated outside with a very impatient server. I asked if they had an English menu and was fine that they didn't have one (we had been in Morocco 10 days, so we were accustomed to translating French at that point). Though, I had some questions because the menu had several options with times of day that foods would become unavailable.
There was one brunch option available at the hour that we were there. My friends and I ordered drinks and the server asked if I wanted brunch - I said in French, "Only tea, I want to think." Minutes later, I received a place mat and my friends did not. Our drinks came, and along with that an entire brunch that I did not order.
We were confused because he did not ask my friends if they wanted any food, yet I was receiving an entire meal. When I told him I did not order this, he started immediately yelling and refused to take the food back or serve us any more. I asked for a supervisor and he refused.
I had to leave my table and ask the indoors staff to speak to a supervisor and the server came over and started screaming, including yelling that I was American. We were no longer comfortable at the restaurant and decided the issue was not worth resolving. We paid for the 3 drinks we got and made our way out.
I did appreciate as we left that the server had been taken off-duty and was sitting at a table by himself. The supervisor did apologize, but did not attempt to make us more comfortable and charged us for our drinks (though the brunch was removed).
We generally had good experiences over our 10 days eating in Fes, Marrakech, and Casablanca. But, unfortunately, this was at the top of our list of bad experiences - from service to vitriol from staff to...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant infront the famous mosque. We we're expexting a fine lunch after the jumuah prayer. Untill we found out it wasnt quite the place it seemed like. We ordered couscous and tagine. Now I know what leftover tagine is, looks and tastes like. Also tagine that has been left on the counter for 15min or recycled from a previous customer.
Anyways first they brought us bread and olives which, we're fine and tastes good. We waited for our food a decent amount of time. Once our food arrived we got to eating. My son told me the tagine is cold in food terms so it's not hot its between cold and room temperature. At first I didn't belive him but then I tasted it myself, I came to find out it was indeed cold. Also barely had any meat in it.
We kept on eating and ignored the fact the food we were paying for was cold. We ate until we forgot to order water. Apparently they don't even serve water with the food which is kinda odd. The waiter said ok and then went to clean tables????? After 7min they brought the water. I didn't know they had to go to the sea to bring it.????? Anyways they brought the water and we complained about the food and he told us it wasn't cold when he brought it and apparently it wasn't even cold to begin with so we offered him a bite and he ignored us and looked away arrogantly. After thus we felt we were treated differently also less like the others. As well as the lady at the front desk was giving us dirty looks all the time.
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!!!!!! TERRIBLE...
Read moreWe had to wait really long just for a menu, when the waiter finally came to get the order he was not attentive kept talking to colleagues in between. We ordered the chicken tagine We got the smallest tagine with half chicken and a few olives on it. We asked for hot sauce which we waited for eventually I had to find some and get it myself. We were disappointed that it wasn't like everyone's with the vegetables on top and a proper tagine. Then we had a extra ingredient in my virgin pina colado (a hair) for that also I called the waiter who kept walking pass our table but ignoring us I then got up and went to the desk a waiter came and took it and replaced it in a metal pineapple which I wasn't impressed as now if there was anything we wouldn't see it. We ordered the tropical salad which was just thrown together without much effort, spaghetti bolognese was nice and coffee was nice. When making the payment had to wait a good while before they bought the change back. I didn't leave a tip in the payment wallet and the waiter came back really quick to check if there was a tip left, if only he worked at that speed when attending at the meal time. The restaurant really needs a upgrade in the renovation of the bathroom facilities and...
