I think I scored a really good place here. Prices in Essaouira are very high. But this ordinary restaurant provides delicious meals at a very reasonable price. I had grilled fish with vegetables and it was superb. The restaurant is overlooking a square where there are several other much pricier places and you can sit and watch the world go by below. There are a couple of vegan cafes below and access to Chez Ali is in the corner by one of these places. It is signposted. The staff are very lovely and obliging and you can see the ladies preparing the food. I had a lovely afternoon there, reading and relaxing after my yummy meal, which was a 75 dirham one inclusive of olives, a tea and a dessert. Very good value indeed but most of all the ambience and the lovely people. Would definitely go there again. Not upmarket by any means but genuinely good...
Read moreGreat local place with good fresh grilled fish. We enjoyed the dorada grill. They have menu options with good prices(65-95dh per menu). We took 2 fish menu combo. Each fish menu includes morrocan salad (or fish soup) + Dorada (seabream) fish + dessert of choice (try orange with cinnamon if you haven't tried it!). The fish had perfect taste and roast. Fish menu was costed 95dh. They have plenty of space outside and it's great to spend time there if there is the sun. The service is ok (Ali, the founder, was serving us - he barely speaks English, but we ordered all just fine). I believe they should have 4.4-4.5 rating, not 4.1. Good...
Read moreAn advice from a man/service professional to the man/owner, relax and let the lady with you manage, she's doing far better than you, you're just ruining the place. At this moment and because of you running this place, I'm having a terrible night, got food poisoning from the dish I had, hopefully I only ate little as I felt something hidden behind the exaggerated spice of "z3itra". Once again, let your wife run the place, she seemed desperate with...
