My partner and I (both English tourists) ate here last night. Honestly, this was our favourite establishment we have visited by far. We were served by a lovely man who spoke perfect English (not necessary but helps).

The food was incredible. We had Patatas Bravas and Croquettes de Poulet to start. Followed by Filet de St_Pierre and Poulpe Grille for mains. Everything was exceptionally well cooked. For drinks, we asked which cocktails would most suit our preferences and he said he could surprise us with something he thought would suit us. He absolutely got this correct. They were the nicest cocktails we have had for a long time and perfectly suited our tastes. The service throughout our stay was extremely attentive. There was not a moment I had to wait for a server, I just look up from the table and see someone who will rush over to help.

After having a cigarette at the bar (allows smoking in the bar area, which is somewhat separate to the main dining areas) we decided to stay and have a few more cocktails before leaving due to such a fantastic atmosphere. When we sat down at the bar, before we even got a chance to ask we had nibbles brought over and an ashtray provided. The gentleman at the bar was fantastic, asked us if we were enjoying everything, made us feel welcome and insisted we let him know if he can make our visit any better.

The total meal was 2 starters, 2 mains, 3 cocktails, a beer and a bottle of water. This totalled 1000DH (about £80). For this kind of atmosphere, service and food quality in the UK you would easily pay closer to £150 for that amount of food (and probably it would have a lot smaller portion sizes). The two drinks we later had at the bar were 150DH each, so totaled 300DH (about £25). I do recognise, however, that this is one of the more expensive restaurants in Morroco, I feel it is a little geared towards a Western...

Dar Baba is truly one of my favorite spots in Essaouira. I’ve visited several times with friends for our regular gatherings and dinners, and it never disappoints. The ambiance is cozy yet elegant, with exceptional interior design and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Light music in the background adds to the overall charm without being intrusive.

The hospitality is outstanding — the staff are always smiling, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They make you feel at home from the moment you walk in.

The dishes are flavorful, beautifully plated, and prepared with real attention to detail. Every bite feels like a treat — you can sense the care behind each dish. Their cocktails are also top-notch, creative and refreshing, making them a great companion to the meals.

Prices are reasonable for the quality, especially considering the ambiance and service. Whether you’re visiting with friends, family, or a partner, or even hosting a casual meeting, Dar Baba is the perfect choice for a memorable culinary experience.

⭐ Highly recommended — 1000%!

📍 Best for: Couples, friends, family dinners, small business meetups 🍽️ Must-try: Signature dishes + house cocktails 🎨 Highlight: Interior design, staff hospitality, cozy upscale...

We visited here after a friend’s recommendation, and it’s an absolute must-visit. All six of us agreed it was one of the best meals we had in Morocco – personally, it was my absolute favourite stop.

We shared a range of starters: patatas bravas, chicken & lemon croquettes, crab and avocado dip, and baked Camembert. Even the homemade bread with oils was outstanding. For the vegetarian in our group, the vegetable platter was perfect – the waiter listed the vegetables of the day and she chose exactly what she wanted, paired with some veggie starters. While mains had limited vegetarian options, there were plenty of fresh fish dishes to choose from. The rest of us ordered a burger, beef fillet, and lamb.

I had the beef fillet and would absolutely order it again – the vegetables were beautifully seasoned, the mash was smooth, and the gravy sauce was rich and delicious.

The atmosphere was such a lovely surprise – it felt boutique, unique, and almost like fine dining. The venue is gorgeous, service was quick and attentive, and there were always staff on hand. I’d highly, highly recommend this spot to...
