Pasta Baladin — Restaurant in Essaouira

During the five days and nights my brother and I stayed in Essaouira, we chose to eat two dinners at Pasta Baladin. The price was right (food items range from 55 to 90 DH), and the restaurant specializes in any pasta and sauce of your choice.

For us, it was a short 3-minute walk from our riad that had wonderful panoramic ocean views from two terraces.

There are daily specials, and both cold and hot drinks are served, and various mineral waters, plus with Italian salads and deserts.

Pasta Baladin has several tables with tall stools outside, but on cool evenings, it is more comfortable to eat inside.

No credit cards are accepted. No alcoholic beverages are sold, only sodas, coffee, waters, and teas.

The waitresses are efficient and speak multiple languages, including English. I was happy that the staff remembered me on a subsequent visit during Ramadan 2025. Each table had a glass vase with half a dozen huge...

To start with the seafood is not fresh, and reasonable portion size, the tomato sauce and the frutti de mare is just horrible, the tomato sauce is canned, the other choices are not that good too. Nevertheless the stuff were friendly and honest.

I’m sorry my dish didn’t include mussels coz they were over so I cant relate to that. The sea food is supposed to be fresh esp the shrimps coz it makes the food even tastier. What i ate had no sea food flavor. It is essaouira , fish city, u guys have no excuse, and given the price of the dish the least u can do is to have fresh shrimp. It has come to my attention that you replied to my friend’s review, and completely dismissed our opinion, so here’s a piece of my mind, the way you addressed his critical honest review says a lot about you customer service, labelling a review as “useless” goes further to show your disregard of the customer’s dining experience, and it also shows your incompetence to serve an actual delicious food, let alone the condescending discriminatory attitude that I have received because apparently “I’m not a tourist”, and that’s what really set me off.
