We came with friends only for oysters, cose Rabat - perfect place to taste them. First strange thing - waiters wasn't able choose who take the table. And I can say why (cose I'm also worked in service long time) - there were big table who were celebrating something, and nobody wanted to take table with simple tourists, small check=less tips or maybe none. But in a restairant with good service, none guest should notice such behavior of service. So one "brave" waiter took table. We ordered wine, oysters and few starters more. Oysters and wine came ASAP, but something happend to other starters. He forgot part of the order and actually forgot that he got a table. Hardly I found him and remided about it. But my friend didn't like that and wrote review. Waiter brought forgotten starters, but again forgot one, but didn't care about it, cose we were going to leave the place in few min. And now, situation why I decided to wrote this. Somebody, maybe manager (i haven't seen him/her) have seen the review of my friend and waiters started attack us by "service" Ok, they say appologies, but then some of them started staring at us, our waiter usked my friend to change his review, and few times enterated him when we had a speach. This is not nice and uncomfortable. In such cases waiter should give apologies one time with full info and bring full order and make one complement (by the way complement were made by another waiter on a go, thanks him, but impression were already spoiled) Attack by service, when a lot of waiters trying to do something with "problem table" works badly. P.S. oysters were great by the way, other starters too. Please, managers, fix...

Everything started well. We arrived abit early and got told we had to wait 20 minutes for service not a problem even tho it was 2 pm for lunch. As we tried to order, about 3 items were not available and the one white wine which we wanted. We ended up ordering about 9 dishes between 4 people. The 6 appetisers were good despite the avocado and shrimp salad being embarrassing… only half an avocado with 3 pieces of shrimp decorating the extra shavings of a second avocado piece. But when the 2 steaks arrived, one was on the boarder of being medium like we asked, but also Immediately noticed that this steak was cooked on a pan instead of the “wood fire” like described on the menu. After confronting to the waiter, he said the wood fire was not ready, which he didn’t tell us before. The second steak was barely cooked and basically raw which they did not want to replace at first once we spoke to the waiter. After the chef had the audacity to come downstairs all the way from the kitchen to ask what was wrong as if the cut in half purple steak wasn’t obvious enough. The chef made the most outrageous comment of sharing that if a new steak would be made that he would be the one paying for it. By the end, the waiter tried to add 200dhs on our bill as a “tip” as if it was to cover for the steak that would be paid by the chef or even worse as if he wanted to take advantage of the fact that we are foreigners that are willing to throw money at them for this kind...

Our worst meal during two weeks in Morocco - avoid.

Firstly, it took 20 minutes until someone took our order despite the restaurant being close to empty and many staff just chatting downstairs. Whenever we were served, it was miserable and reluctant. As if our custom was a disturbance to chatting with the other staff.

The food was okay, but small portions (a 100 dirham portion of chicken skewers was just one chicken skewer).

But the real frustration was that we were served french fries instead of Patatas Bravas. When we raised this to the waiter he said this was what we ordered 'Patatas Fritures'. When it came to paying and we again outlined that we did not order the french fries, he then admitted that they were out of Patatas Bravas. Clearly rather than flag this to us, they changed our order and the waiter attempted to mislead us that we had ordered incorrectly.

Then to top it off, we spent long enough with our food finished and no service that we ended up just getting up and going downstairs to pay. If we hadn't, I think we would still be waiting tomorrow...

Strongly recommend you...

5 years ago I came here with an international friend to try out some Moroccan food during Ramadan iftar. The food was unbelievable, great atmosphere and delicious fresh food. Tonight I took my wife out for iftar and my oh my was the experience horrendous. To start, there was less variety of food to meet the eyes, we shrugged it off.. But then we tasted the nightmare at the ring of the hour for breaking the fast. My stomach felt better empty than what these thieves are feeding people! The meat was hard, the tagines felt days old. The dates were of lowest quality, the food all needed more spices- and we were about to pay almost 30$ a person for a buffet that was considerably worse than a retirement home’s food. We sat silently waiting for the torture to be over, we told the waiter and hostess how terrible the food was, but all they could reply was, “besaha” (with health)! Avoid at all costs. I was let down so hard.. I’m done my rant, we paid and left asap, don’t make our mistake.

Casa Jose in Rabat is truly one of the city's finest dining establishments. From the moment you step in, you're greeted by an exquisite interior that showcases beautiful architecture, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Spanish cuisine is nothing short of amazing, with a menu that offers a fantastic selection of seafood and an impressive array of wines to complement your meal. Each dish is prepared with great attention to detail, making every bite a delight. The staff at Casa Jose are exceptionally friendly and provide fast, efficient service, ensuring your dining experience is both enjoyable and memorable. The only area for improvement would be the air conditioning, as the restaurant can get a bit overheated. However, this minor inconvenience does not overshadow the overall excellence of Casa Jose. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy top-notch Spanish cuisine in Rabat.

My first time in this beautiful country and had great food at Jose, only one safety problem, I was upstairs and my knife slid but instead of falling on the floor it went all the way down through the fence and almost hit a customer sitting downstairs, after asking, I realized that this is not the first time that it happens. I was embarassed, and I had to apologize from the customer, you need to put some safety plexiglass that won’t allow anything to fall off on customers. I went to have a lunch, I could’ve hurt someone really bad. Please fix this and I will change my ranking to 5 stars.
