This is a copy paste of a review that I wrote on TripAdvisor:
"The location of Fatima's Nest in Tofo is fantastic. Right on the beach. That's the only thing going for it.
A group of us went for a dorm with the self-catering option. Self-catering was next to impossible as the facilities were lacking/unusable. Oddly the fridge shelf that I put take-away on even collapsed.
List of problems: -Dorm was dirty -There was no doorhandle for the dorm door was broken (and the door couldn't close properly in any case) -There was no hot water -No working plug points in our dorm -No toilet paper (like ever, even after we complained) -Toilets clogged -Unfriendly staff
We had two other hiccups. We had organised a tour of Inhamane through one of the staff. The guide knew nothing of the town and ended the tour early without us completing the promised itinerary.
The second hiccup involved payment and is utterly bizarre. We tried to pay the whole amount at the beginning of our stay. For some reason the dude wouldn't accept the money for the final night of the stay. We insisted that we owed more and were told that this was some sort of special.
When we tried to leave on our final day the staff wouldn't let us leave as we hadn't paid for the final day. Turns out that the special didn't exist. In a way is was symbolic for our interaction with the staff which I characterise as bumbling, contradictory and kind of irksome.
It's disappointing as the place is affordable and has a...
Read moreCompletely run down, bedding is old and tattered, facilities in Maputo are depressing but Tofo is better. Rooms are hot and dark with tiny windows. Showers are not clean and need to be updated or better maintained. The shuttle service is a nightmare. Leaves early AM only to drop you off at the Junta bus station to wait an hour or two as they cram people into an already full bus. They will only depart once they reach capacity X 2.literally people are sitting on buckets in the aisle or on each others laps alongside livestock or whatever bulk goods are being transported north of Maputo. It's an experience- brace yourself! Do yourself a favor and sit near a window. It will be hot and stuffy. They severly damaged my luggage and there was no recourse. If you go to Tofo as for Vovo or Viller. He is a world renowned artist whose work is amazing! Cheap accommodations in Tofo if you stay 4+ days, if not, then...
Read moreThis place has definitely seen better days. Very run down and depressing. It looks almost abandoned - all the sheets are ripped, the toilets lacking even basic items (like paper and soap) and the rooms are cramped, the mattresses feel like they are a million years old. I stayed at Mozambeat (which I would recommend) for the week and then spent 1 night at Fatima's in order to catch the bus to Maputo. It's okay for 1 night, you'll survive. Also the bar and the hostel is cash only, be sure to get cash at the ATM 5km from Tofo because there is nowhere in Tofo to get cash. The best thing about Fatima's is the location, right on the beach. I would recommend staying somewhere else in Tofo and then just come to Fatima's to catch the Maputo bus (which also sucks but it is the only option besides the Etrago from Inhambane). Room w shared toilet costs 1000pp and the bus costs 1250 pp as...
