We love Thai food, so were excited upon coming across LeThai in Ponta do Ouro. Good beach view, nice decor. Service was extremely slow. There seemed to be only one waitron. We were one table of two with only two other tables occupied (a couple and a family of four). The waitron did apologise for the delay of the cocktails, explaining that the barman wasn't in. That said, we weren't checked on at all and had to get up to order our next drinks. The starter (veg spring rolls) was fine. Unfortunately, the waitron did not understand that we asked for both the curries to be vegetarian, so we had to take back one for the kitchen to re-do. The veg dishes are supposed to be served with tofu as the protein per the menu, but she did not seem to understand despite us pointing to the tofu on menu, so we received them for the same price as beef, chicken and prawn but without any protein. May have been a communication issue, but since most of the tourists speak English in this popular tourist beach town, it's a bit of a pity. And if the menu offers it, it shouldn't be confusing for staff. The massaman curry was passable. The chilli we ordered on the side was too vinegary, adding no heat but the vinegar taste to the dish. The green curry had a strange smell and I could not eat it. Unfortunately, I left hungry and unsatisfied after a +ZAR900 / 3150MT meal. Even in Sandton, where we live, that amount would buy a feast for two. It's definitely overpriced for...

We spent a wonderful week at the resort with a party if 10 in 4 chalets. We used the bar and restaurant frequently for breakfasts lunches and 1 massive dinner spread. For this dinner the restaurant manager and chef pulled out all the stops with a custom spread of fish, prawns, squid and chicken. They really went above and beyond. The bar atmosphere was really liked by the youngsters and it became their nightly drinking hole especially with live...
