Café Sol — Restaurant in Maputo

Well I've heard great things about this place, sadly, they were false expectations. At first glance the service seemed great, i called ahead asking of the place was open or not, that was arround 7AM and as it said on the gmaps profile it was open and ready to serve. I then walked in the restaurant, passed by the outside eating area that is simply delightful, however the service is far from it. Inside i check the soace out and understood they were opening, the chairs were staked on top of each other and soo were the tables, once again it's understandable. Therefore i set outside and waited 10+ minutes for service, a waitress came by and was just about to give me the menu when i decided to order a cup of coffee. The coffee came after a few minutes and it all seemed to get better for a fee seconds... However I waited 20+ minutes to order something to eat and ultimately ended up calling to place the order because the waitresses were nowhere to be found. The order was excepted and i said " estou mesmo aqui fora sentada " after ordering it. The Espresso was a little harsh, I don't know whether it is the roast or the grind/puck preparation. Normally I'd watch, but this time I forgot, so I don't know if the coffee is weighed or how the puck is prepped. The Garoto benefited from the sugars in the milk taking away some of the bitterness. Not the best coffee I've had in Maputo and the staff were all miserable. Not a single smile....

My first visit to Mozambique. I visited Cafe Sol and had the lunch buffet a few times. It's located in a quiet serene area. The food is good but the buffet choice is very limited. The buffet is charged by weight but averaged about $10 each time. The atmosphere is good, we always sat outside. The staff are quite friendly considering we don't speak Portuguese. Overall...
