1st experience - Average experience. Pork chop was 7/10. Mutton set was 6/10. Better to go thakkhola thakali when in new baneshowr. VAT is added extra even though they have to include the vat in the menu itself. I inquired about this issue and they kept on saying it was the amount that was already included in the menu. Servers were not wearing masks and were coughing in front of us while they were serving.
2nd experience- Above mentioned was the review from nearly 1 and half year back. I went to give it a second chance. Mutton set was better than before 8/10. Mutton kebab was not worth it. Flavour of star ainse was too overpowering in the mutton. Chicken set contained lots of breast meat which usually is quite bland compared to the darker thigh meat. Service was awesome. They even discussed about the reviews they get here in maps before they start the business. I was able to see this because I went there early in the morning. Maybe at 10 am.
3rd experience - Went there 3rd time within a week after the 2nd visit as my perception was changed by the 2nd visit. Went there to have a lunch. Tried mutton momo, pork chilly, mustang aloo and churros. Taste of mutton momo was good but found a stone in the keema. Would rate it 7/10 just for the sake of taste. Pork chilly was one of the best I had in a long time. But, the quantity was disappointing for the price point. The plate looked too empty for me. Still would rate it 9/10 for its taste. Mustang aloo was just seared in the ghee and jimbu was used. But the MVP of the aloo was the dipping chutney and masala like powder. Would give it 7/10. Now for the churros. Were quite good. Quantity was respectable and the plating was quite elegant. 8.5/10 for it.
Overall I recommend it for some casual meal. For me it can't be a restaurant where I am the regular type of customer. It will be hit or miss with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs per me One cannot call this restaurant a pure authentic Nepali Thakali Kitchen although Brand name say so, let it be.
Well as per my experience in Newbaneswor branch this is a pure Beer and Snacks restaurant that also serves Indian Thali set in a steel Thali with similar food presentation but they name it as authentic Jimbu Thakali Khana while not even serving in bronze Thali set which lacks typical Thakali dining experience. I didn't find calm and cozy family space for dining Authentic Thakali Khana as restaurant business claims. Staffs are poorly performing and not giving attention to priority servings. Although furniture looks solid, Luxury and expensive but the Tables are not comfortable for eating Thakali Khana set.
Toilet is so tiny and always engaged and very close to the eating tables which can transmit contamination easily. Most embarrassing one is the valves of Wash Taps are placed in the right hand side which was very uneasy to wash if your right hand is dirty after eating. Although for left hand eaters it perfectly fine. Although restaurant seems well invested but lacks poor space planing and seating arrangements.Maybe Architect are not consulted before space planning. How expensive is here? Moderately expensive while value for money on certain dish I rated below. āāāRatingāāā āļøTaste and Presentation For 1ļøā£Thakali Khana set (4/10) š 2ļøā£Chicken sizzler (8/10) š 3ļøā£Chicken Piccata (8/10)š 4ļøā£ Staff Etiquette (5/10) (need more training on serving customer, guiding customer to seating until to the bill...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had been craving Thakali cuisine and it had been a while since I last checked this place out, and this didn't disappoint! They have a spacious, calm environment considering the fact that the main road is right in front of the restaurant which I really likedš„°.
(Reminder: I only go here to have Thakali so this review might feel narrowed down and your expirience could differ from mine!)
I take the Chicken Thali set everytime and they have definitely upped their game with their flavours and varieties of side dishes they have (pickled radish and the spinach are my favourites out of all!). Honestly this meal had me bloated to my core, I was about to explode! The staffs don't hesitate with bringing us food which I find adorable lolš¤£, but it's a nice gesture to be treated nicely. A plate of good heavy food, heavy calories, and heavy side dishes just makes a perfect image for Thakali set, which I found here so that's really great for me šŖ.
I went to have brunch, and I noticed they get quite busy during afternoon hours. So you might get your order slightly later than you expect. I would like them to work on quicker service, but I'd say it's worth the wait. If you're worried about the parking, rest easy. They have parkings available both for two and four wheelers as soon as you enter Jimbu premises. There's more, it's free parking! That really made me feel a lot better and happierš. Giving it a 4/5 ā since there's always room for improvement. I hope this...
