I had the pleasure of dining at Walnut Bistro during my visit to Nepal about a month ago, and the experience exceeded my expectations. The food and service was outstanding and arguably better than other restaurants such as Trisara, Alice, etc.

We started with the Satay Chicken Skewers, which, while delicious, could have used a tad more nuttiness in the sauce. The real highlight of the evening was the Nachos. They were absolutely amazing, and they left a lasting impression on us as it was a unique taste with the recipe used.

We also had the Chicken Momos, which were quite good. And for our main course, we ordered the Butter Chicken, Naan, and Dhall. You could really tell they made it freshly as it took around 30 minutes to come. The butter chicken was rich and flavorful, the naan was perfectly baked, and the dhall, although spoiled by the presence of a small stone, had a great taste.

Despite the minor hiccup with the stone in the dhall, I was satisfied with the restaurant's staff for their quick response and excellent customer service. The waiter and manager truely apologized and even provided a discount, which was greatly appreciated.

Overall whilst this resaurant may not be as flashy or entertaining as Trisara and other restaurants, its probably the best food and service I have recieved in any...

1. They ask for your name and number immediately after you take your seat, which is really weird. When asked why, the waitress replied that it was to address cases when the customer left any belongings in the restaurant, and for "data keeping purpose". Whatever the reason, this practice is really stupid, and a joke for hospitality ethics.

2. Had heard a lot of good things about the place, but turned out to be the biggest disappointment. The menu was very average, but the price seemed expensive. I was still giving benefit of doubt to all good reviews I had heard till then.

3. The Americano was bad. Improperly grinded; a local bakery would have served a better version.

4. The mutton biryani was the biggest disappointment. They did not even use long grain. No meats in the pieces.

5. The Meat from Kathmandu Pizza was another joke. Just a flood of tomato flavor and improperly baked dough.

6. The ambience was decent. They had bonfire and heaters too. But the chairs, tables and the plates seemed like I was in a local sekuwa eatery (no disrespect to local sekuwa eateries, they are the best, but when you pay the way Walnut asks you to, you definitely expect something better)

Not going there again! Still confused what the hype...
