My 5⭐️ review from 4 years ago is below but for the past two trips to SXM, we're finding that the taste of the food has changed. The shawarma, fatouche, and even the hummus were quite bland, lacking the typical and distinct Lebanese flavors. That in addition to the slow service cause us to reduce our rating to 3⭐️. It's a disappointment. This restaurant was once full of people, great vibe, and exceptional food. To find it nearly empty on a Friday evening and the decline in flavor really makes us sad, especially given our nostalgic attachment to this particular business and our culture. C'mon Beirut team... raise the bar back up!
Review from Feb 2019, was 5⭐️: Ate there last night, on our first night in St. Maarten. Anyone who says anything about the food being less than perfect probably just doesn't like Lebanese food to begin with, because this restaurant sets the gold standard. The flavors were fantastic and the ambiance was lively and fun. The only exception was our waitress... she was very inattentive. It took forever for her to take our order.... I thought it was because we were sitting outside, but then we moved inside and things didn't improve. We had to flag her down for each stage of our meal, and at the end we just gave our payment to a gentleman at the bar. But this still doesn't change our review of an excellent culinary experience at...
Read moreFood was authentic and flavorful, however the service was very disappointing. As we arrived, there appeared to be approximately 4 tables occupied with guests and we were greeted by the owner who seated us. He was very kind but we never saw him at our table again. It would have been nice to have been able to share with him how much we enjoyed the food, but we never saw him again. Initially we ordered drinks from the bar but were never offered water. Once we requested water our waiter never offered to refill our bar drinks or our water. Our food took a very long time to Come out of the kitchen (45 minutes). Again, it was not busy this evening so I am not sure what took so long. after we received our food, not once did anyone ask how our meal was or offer to refill anything. I have many, many dining options on this island and in my opinion you would think the owner and staff would be more attentive to their customers. Not sure if we...
Read moreI give Beirut restaurant a five star. The dinner we had was amazing. My daughters and I had the chicken kabab and my husband had the beef kabab. I was born in Beirut, but I grew up in the U.S. I am a very picky eater when it comes to food. Everything that I tasted on my plate was excellent and believe me if I like it you will to. Every bite I took my daughters were waiting for me to make a comment and when my eyes grew bigger then they are. They both knew if I approved of the food then it was good. The coconut Semolina cake was to die for. Thanks to the owner he did not mind giving me the recipe. But he forgot to give me one more ingredient HOW MUCH COCONUT DO I PUT IN THE RECIPE YOU GAVE ME! I'M HOPING HE WILL READ THIS REVEIW SO WE CAN HAVE THAT DELICIOUS DESERT AT HOME. EVEN THOUGH I DONT THINK WE WILL HAVE THAT AMAZING TASTE like we had IN ST. Maarten THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE AMAZING FOOD AND WE HOPE WE WILL...
