This was definitely not what we expected! We had to walk through some kind of hotel or apartment complex, which was hard to find with very little street signage for the restaurant (none) and we couldn’t really figure out if we were allowed to park there or not at first (needs more signage! We had to sneak in behind another car entering the gate). There were shades down so we didn’t get the “cliffs” view we expected but it was still a lovely night. The duck was cooked to absolute perfection and was a HUGE portion (could easily be split) with an incredible sauce that reminded me of a French onion soup that took days to make. The mash was quite garlic-y for me, but good. My favorite thing was the burrata with eggplant prosciutto and hummus appetizer- flawless and also a large portion, but I was almost full after just that course! If I had known how large these portions were I’d have visited when I had a kitchen to reheat leftovers at home the next day! My boyfriend got the gnocchi, which was good and also a super large portion, albeit the gnocchi being a bit undercooked, and we both felt super full (and a bit bloated) after! If you’re looking for a super filling meal with big (Texas size) portions for the price of the small portions at other restaurants, but still from a pro chef, this is your place! The chef sat at the entry and greeted us on our way in and when we exited. Highlight was that expertly cooked duck and the appetizer. Don't regret it but both felt a bit bloated in comparison to the other meals we had...
Read moreWent for NYE dinner to celebrate our 6th anniversary. Small quaint restaurant located inside The Cliff hotel. We had an early reservation and got the last parking spot out of the 20 available. Got pretty hot in there because there is no airflow. We enjoyed every dish we ordered: escargot, crab croquettes, lobster bisque, sushi app (which is not on the menu), tuna carpaccio, pistachio mahi mahi, snapper, scallops and bouillabaisse, chocolate lava cake, profiteroles, crème brûlée and banana tart. There was a small piece of paper in the tuna carpaccio and they tried to convince us that it was a piece of artichoke when there was clearly ink lines on the paper. They didn’t even offer to make us a new dish or compensate for it. We were a young family and I didn’t feel like they took us seriously. Not the type of experience I expected for a...
Read moreThere is literally not enough space for me to write amazing things about this restaurant and the people that make it all happen.
I have been dining at Mario Bistrot for over 20 years as it has moved from Marigot to now at it gorgeous home at the Cliff in Cupecoy. Every single meal has been absolutely incredible and my family stops for dinner at least twice every trip.
Mario, Bobby, and the the rest of the team are amazing people and provide a superior experience and service. Did I also mention the view and atmosphere? The Cliff is a wonderful place, but it is made even better by having Mario Bistrot located there as well. One of the best restaurants around and you will have made a mistake if you visit SXM and do not dine here....
