Man, attractive marketing, abysmal portions. I could make this at home for 8 for this price and I import my own gouchugaru. Beer was cold which is cool, but EASILY my worst value korean experience of my life. Literally didnt give me enough cooking gas to cook this pitiful portion of meat. Look, spend $6 on COG, instead of $3. It’s a $48 ‘entrée’ It will go a long way. Some people should not be in the restaurant industry and this is one of the best examples. Sucks, but fact.
Edit: Owner responded here in a VERY hostile way.I ordered entree ($48) and side protein ($18) expecting it to be enough for two. I assumed it was a spread without reloads. It wasn’t, so I apologized for not understanding and asked to upgrade the side to two entrees. This good samaritan gives me a quarter onion, a half cup rice, half a mushroom and 1” of eggplant, decides not to charge me $30 for it and calls it a favor. Ran out of gas twice, so I just gave up on trying. it was clear what I expected and what was being offered were too far apart to be reckoned. Check please. I can afford the meal. I don’t need freebies. what I want, is to not get ripped off. If you think you’re doing it right, and can sleep at night, good for you. I could never.
Hey bro; i saw your edit a year later on that I should cook at home. Here’s my cooking instagram. @eatwithmindfirst i have years of culinary behind me. I am more than capable of making Korean food of this caliber. I just hoped for something approaching dollars to cost ratio. Get a propane adapter and buy a tacgas tank and run a gas line brother, quit getting nickle and dimed on the wrong equipment. Youre american, you know...
Read moreSo while just randomly browsing Google Maps … I stumbled across Rick’s Korean BBQ listing … and we had to try it … and also it was a needed break from island food.
Nondescript location in a shopping plaza, Ricks delivers on delicious Asian cuisine.
His Korean chicken - SUPER crispy coated in a sweet spicy glaze. I can only imagine that his General Gau’s chicken would be amazing …
We ordered chicken and beef BBQ … and the chicken marinade blew us away. Not going to spill any of Rick’s secret sauce concoction - not that he told me proportions, but it’s spectacular, tangy, and flavorful when we grilled it up. The beef was appropriately thin and charred up nicely as well.
Grill items came with salad accoutrements, corn, onions, mushrooms as well as including pickled carrots and daikon and kim chi.
Surprise to find a long time international native cooking solid Asian food on the island but glad we did. He also cooks his pho for at least 8-hours with proper bones and spices … a number of other guests around us ordered it and it looked great!
Definitely make time to come on through - and also order the...
Read moreThis is a fantastic little place hidden away behind a casino right on the waterfront in Simpson Bay. Open air dining with just a dozen little tables. They bring the grill right to your table if you choose to cook for yourself with a platter of your chosen protein and sliced vegetables to roast as well. The beef bulgogi and pork strips are marinated and super tender. Also included are steamed rice and lettuce leaves for wrapping your cooked meats and veggies in. The gyoza (dumplings) are fried, so they're a bit crispy, unlike steamed dumplings you find elsewhere. There are some spicy dishes on the ala carte menu that we didn't try, but what we've had has been amazing. If you are a cold tea / iced tea person, their lemon iced tea is an absolute must-try! I am a tea drinker all the way - no soda for me ever - and their lemon iced tea is absolutely the best I've ever had! Service is great, and the server is super friendly! Definitely recommend checking out this little...
