I've been in BLVD Cafe a couple of times and in my first visits I was happy all and all. However, the last visit was so horrific, that I'm not getting anywhere near that place again. I've ordered a Tofu sandwich and received a Chicken sandwich instead. I didn't notice it at the beginning, since I haven't eaten any type of meat for over 20 years now. I realized it's chicken halfway through the sandwich and felt like I was going to throw up. When I called the waiter to tell him about it he went away without saying a word and came back a minute later with a menu, expecting me to just order something else. When I told him that they've caused me a sever distress and I'm certainly not able to eat anything at this point, explaining to him I've been vegetarian for over 20 years, he frowned at and said "well it's a mistake. what do you want me to do about it?" and then said in a very aggressive tone "well lunch us on me, ok?", as if he's doing me a favor.
I felt attacked and didn't say anything else to him, but I will say it here now. Dear waiter, to your question 'what do you want me to do about it' this is my reply: Do not leave without saying a word after a customer complained about you making a mistake that made them fill nauseated. Do not come back with a menu in such a situation, expecting that it will make everything ok Do not frowned to the offended customer - people don't come to a restaurant just to eat, they come for the full experience and your frowny face should not be on the menu! Do not present the obvious (lunch is on you) as if you're doing the customer a favor. This is something that BLVD Cafe can easily be sued for and an intelligent employee will understand that not charging for lunch is expected and is the smart thing to do. Show some sympathy. It won't kill you and won't cost you anything. Might even make the customer feel a bit better.
This 'mistake' could have easily been treated better, avoiding this bad review and not causing the place to lose a customer. It's a shame the place hires unfit...
Read moreVery smart café but we experienced disappointing service today from our unsmiling blonde waitress who first refused to bring us tap water (perhaps not realising that we were about to order drinks and lunch), then told us that there was no guest WiFi (not her fault) and then brought a salad with peppers even though I had explained that I must not eat them due to a food intolerance. Worse still, when this was pointed out and the salad was returned to the kitchen they must have simply removed the offending bell pepper and brought it back to me. Sadly, it had contaminated the salad and I have been left in pain for the rest of the day. Thankfully, this was only an intolerance rather than an allergy but please beware. Finally, the excellent lemon sorbet was initially served in a glass which was wearing a previous customer's lipstick! It was quickly rectified when this was pointed out. The avocado...
