The coffee is as cold as my ex's heart. The ambiance gives you that 'visiting grandma's house' vibe, if grandma was a minimalist who didn't believe in comfort or joy.
The cafe sits with the ironic charm of a wolf in sheep's clothing, nestled under a library that radiates warmth and welcome, much like a mirage in a dessert. If you're fooled into thinking you can enjoy a peaceful read with your coffee here, think again. This place is as cozy as a dentist's waiting room and about as welcoming as a tax audit.
The waitresses here have the kind of charm that would turn Medusa to stone. During my visit, they shooed me away from the bar seat like it was a private club for Friday's laptop-haters. If it was in fact correct temperature he wouldnโt be able to touch it so easily. My expectations for coffee in the NL is low but please, warm/lukewarm coffee is...
ย ย ย Read moreThe reviews are accurate. I just got the coldest coffee of my life, even though I repeated twice that I wanted it boiling hot. Even worse, their cold coffee is more expensive than Starbucks! This is a perfect example of how lack of competition works - they can get away with it simply because they're right below the library, while Starbucks is a 6-7...
