Le Pain Quotidien — Restaurant in Amstelveen

I visited Le Pain Quotidien in Stadshart Amstelveen for lunch with my mother.

From the moment we sat down, the service was disappointing. Our server, a white woman, took our order but roughly tossed our cutlery onto the table. At first I brushed it off, until I noticed her gently and cheerfully setting silverware for other guests.

I ordered the protein pancake and started eating. About halfway through, I discovered a short, light red hair baked into the batter. My own hair is long and black. When I politely pointed this out, the server’s response was shocking. Instead of apologizing, she snapped that I’d nearly finished the dish and implied it was my fault for not noticing sooner. She rolled her eyes, looked visibly annoyed, and maintained a cold, dismissive tone all the way through payment. My mother and I left feeling insulted rather than cared for.

A tall fatty girl took the order (to identify the person, and not everyone was bad there), she forgot the order cos i m the only non-white person among the white people in this place. I was looking at everyone’s face but no response for 40min, the girl who took the order was dancing, they didnt even realise I dont have anything on my table and keep looking. When I asked where is my food finally said “my colleague forgot, it happens sometimes”! Great. After serving the food she didn’t even bother to apologies but asking “everything okay” for the food that was like a disgusting taste. Finally during the bill they said orange juice is for free, what a great thought! even the food doesn’t worth the money. This happened again , during many many months I bought here sweets and coffee. Today again I bought, coffee and Pistachio swearl . This guy is not the first day trying to ruin my day, no one do this - only this one and one girl . I bought the products, and I have no right to eat them on the terrace. Pardon You don't provide me a service!!!, they can't even show an official document that it's forbidden. Moreover, he told me why I buy coffee and sweets from them. To which I replied that I like these products and I do this everyday and I regular customer . This character doesn’t care and he advised me to go somewhere else.
