Walking into "De Bakkerswinkel" is like walking into the living room of your mother's best friend - It is this childhood memory that everyone somehow has of this place full of warmth, cosy smells and something new to discover everywhere you look.

You will be surrounded by friends, couples, families and quiet travellers alike and the fact that a combination of all of these are still enjoying the food in peace and quiet speaks volumes of the general cosy atmosphere. If you are lucky you might even get to pet one of the very welcome visiting dogs relaxing under the tables.

Their high tea is an excellent way of not only spending an afternoon, but also to get a taste of a wide selection of their wonderful menu items, sweet and savoury! While the service was a little slow, it was absolutely understandable considering the late hour I visited (1 h before closing time) and the staff made more than up for it by being absolutely lovely.

I can highly recommend you visit this place if you like the taste of sweet pastries in familiar strangers...

Our group didn't like most of the cakes we tried.

I had some walnut cake that was, sorry to say, the worst cake I ever had. When one of my friends wanted to try it, her fork bended on the cake. I left it after only taking one bite (that bite has cost me 5 euros). Several of our guests had leftovers. The staff could have noticed that our table wasn't very satisfied.

I really don't mean to be unfriendly but I was very dissappointed and cannot recommend this bakery. When a shop is a bakery and the cakes are not satisfactory, what can I say?
