Great quality smashed burger. A lot if not all burger bars in Netherlands serve patties with some form of breading as such the burgers always taste like sausage patties instead of crumbling beef.
This place does a proper smashed burger and serves it in a very soft and neutral potato bun which holds the patty, sauce and fillings well without crumbling or falling apart. They also sauce the burger right so that it it is juicy but doesn't become a total sloppy mess when trying to hold and eat it.
We tried the BLT, truffle and BBQ burger all were excellent. The only thing is a single patty burger left me wanting more so next time I will order a double patty which cost an extra €4.
The fries were also crispy and tasty. A single portion of fries is enough to share between two people.
Dessert of chocolate tart and cheesecake were simple and adequate but nothing special.
Staff were young friendly and efficient.
Total bill for three burgers, fries , two dessert, three soft drinks and a bottle of large still water was about €75.
Definitely good and worth going back too.
Some recommendations.
Drink selection is good but they are definitely missing milkshakes! To the owners, get a milkshake machine in! But make sure it's a really good milkshake machine it should use real ice cream, no powdered stuff.
You should have a make your own burger option to select you own topping etc.
On the menu have the double patty option at the beginning of the burger listings rather than at the end. You should also make the double patty a default for the first burger as this will highlight that option for the customers.
I would also suggest having a gluten free bun option whether it be an actual gluten free bun or a Lettuce wrap option.
You serve chilli but yet you don't have a chilli burger on the menu? Why?
You need coat hooks or some storage under the seating in the booths. During cold weather customers will be wearing large and wet coats and there is nowhere to hang them. No one wants to sit in a large coat eating a burger and your staff don't want to be wiping down wet seating booths between customers.
Lighting in the bathroom area is horrible! Too dim and the colour temperature feels like a dimly...

Location & Ambience: (5/5) Bill’s is located a stones throw away from Vondel park making it perfect for those hungry walkers in Vondel. The location is right on the road and cannot be missed. The ambience is also great with a diner type setting. The little booths and the bar seating make it a fun place to sit. The open kitchen as well makes it feel a lot more like a diner.
Food & Drink: (5/5) Fantastic food. The burgers were lovely. The mean was tasty and juicy. The buns were soft and soaked the flavours. The cheese and other materials used were all fresh and flavourful. The portion sizes could be a little larger, but all in all great burgers. The diablo burger was lovely, the spice was great and certainly added a good kick to the base flavour. The bossy bbq was also very flavourful.
Service: (5/5) Such lovely service. One of the best in town. Laura and Jayden who waited our tables always did so with a big smile and provided some great advice on what to order. The chefs Pavle and Bram did a fantastic job with the food. They were all great fun to chat with. Totally small town diner vibe. Loved it! Keep it up.
Summary: (5/5) Yes! One of the better burger options in town. Totally worth the visit and you will certainly not be...
Read moreOkay I’m a bit obsessed with the burgers here. I don’t know how they do it but it’s the best I’ve had in Europe and good every time!
Obviously we all differ in opinions on what makes a good burger but the thinly sliced onions and pickles, the perfect melty cheese, the crispy-on-the-edge smash patty AND a perfect ratio of topping to bread (the ratio is what a lot of smash burger places seem to screw up). Even the lettuce they choose, it’s not too soggy, not too much bitter lettuce heart. Not rucola, which does not belong on a burger btw.
The fries are decent and the chilli cheese version are good too. I like that the menu (online at least) is small because I prefer a restaurant that does a few things masterfully instead of a lot of things of questionable quality.
This is not some high end brasserie burger experience for truffles, gold leaf or waygu. It’s just a damn good...
