Was excited to try this place after having an amazing Lebanese last week but this proved to be a let down. The hummus was tasty if a little too runny... the chick peas on top were bland. The stuffed eggplant which other reviews raved about had very little flavor and was bland too... the sweetness of the roasted eggplant itself was not enough to overcome the bland filling.
We had the platter for 2 so we could try various dishes and was asked if we were vegetarian and was given 1 meat dish... not a requirement to have more but would have been nice to have another. All other dishes we had were very good, had lots of flavor and tasted nice.
Service in the restaurant was very slow where after being pointed to a table, we had to ask for menus after 5/10 mins after the same waiter seated someone else and gave them menus immediately. We asked him for menus and he said that he thought we had ordered. The remainder of the night, whenever we needed anything, we had to flag someone down... nobody was proactive in checking with us, asking if we'd like another drink, clearing out plates away or even paying the bill.
The waitresses were friendlier and more helpful but nobody was proactive in serving us often seen waking around the restaurant but not looking at tables or perhaps only looking at certain tables.
To add to that that they ran out of the only dessert we asked for, it was a...
Read moreIn a delicate moment for restaurants like the current one, it's painful to see careless lazy staff members getting paid for chatting, laughing with each other, drinking coffee and completely ignoring the guests in this restaurant. I wonder what the owners would think and do if they saw how their team acts in their absence, especially now that most horeca businesses are struggling so much. After the order was taken and the food was delivered (fast), the girl and the guy on the floor were just busy talking (loudly) about their private stuff with another staff member that passed by on his day off, instead of checking on us, upselling some drinks or coffees and eventually at least taking away our empty plates. After 30 mins waiting for someone to notice us, listening to silly conversations and looking at them hanging at the bar with coffees and phones in their hands we paid and left. It's also weird to see that this popular brunch spot has absolutely no measures whatsoever regarding the Corona virus in place, except a table in the front with a bottle of hand sanitizer. No names or contacts were asked at the door, nothing was put to separate tables, nobody seemed to clean, let alone deep clean any surface and nobody invited us to use the sanitizer. Too bad coz the Arab food they serve is tasty and similar to the one you can find in East Jerusalem...
Read moreThis is way too expensive. I ordered on Uber eats for two people. One person was still hungry by the end. We ordered a veggie hummus plate, pita, lamb kabobs with salad, eggplant, baba ganoush, two deserts, and some pickled onions. The portions were quite small. My order plus 10 percent tip was €120.
The pita and veggie hummus plate was delicious.
The lamb plate was good quality food but didn’t have much flavor. The salad I stupidly added for €13 was not very good, or flavorful. It head mealy tomatoes and not very crispy cucumbers, didn’t have much acid/vinegar/lemon.
The eggplant was very small, and I think like €13 euros, it was very tough and stringy, the tahini wasn’t particularly flavorful to make up for it.
The two deserts, tahini brownie and coconut gelatinous desert, I forget what it was called. Were delicious.
Baba ganoush, one of my favorite dips again wasn’t particularly flavorful, don’t get me wrong I don’t need things to be like spicy hot wings flavor or anything, it just lacked any dimension and didn’t make you want to keep coming back, was just kind of bland.
I should have taken this money to Albert Heijn and made my own Israeli food for...
