On two separate occasions family members have fallen ill after eating here. This cannot be a coincidence. You may note that restaurant management respond to this review, as they have to similar reviews complaining of food poisoning, that “in ten years they have never received a complaint of food poisoning”. This is a lie and indicative of the arrogant and uncritical view they take of their operations. We complained in December 2023 and they insisted that it is impossible that they were responsible. We gave them another chance this week and my pregnant wife got very sick. Check out the 1 star reviews. Stay far away.

RESPONSE: As anticipated, the restaurant management has indeed responded in an arrogant manner, devoid of concern for clientele and the recognition of potential health and safety failures. I once again urge people to look at the 1 star reviews which will show that our food poisoning is not an isolated issue. It also should provide evidence of previous false statements that they have never received a complaint of food poisoning in 10 years of business. To further confirm that this is not a fake review, at the restaurant's request we provide 1) Receipt as Proof of Order (see Restaurant name at bottom) 2) Refund by Uber due to illness. 3) Medication for...

Went all the way to Amsterdam with one of those discount coupon cards from a third party, after looking at a bunch of other options we finally decided that Having Indian would land us the best deal (price/ food ratio). And so..after numerous rounds with the car to find a good parking spot, we eventually found one and managed to be somewhat around 8 at the front door of this small and cozy Indian restaurant. With no particular idea on what to expect, we stepped inside and immediately we were greeted by both the owner and his help. Luckily we had a reservation so the last table available was waiting for us. The waiter patiently waited and suggested menu items (what goes well together) and ensured that we correctly ordered food. I had chicken razela and aloo parantha while my friend had the mixed grill platter with biryani. Every dish was uniquely flavored with fresh spices and vegetables. Besides the standard papadam and chutney, aloo mattar and rice pilau were offered on the house. We spend around 65 euros of which 35 was covered with the coupon. I guess what i’m trying to say is that ambiance, hospitality, food flavoring and taste, and pricing were surprising! Although small, we really enjoyed our meal and are certainly thinking of coming...

AVOID - Went in today and ordered Tarka Daal, Chicken Vindaloo and Garlic Naan. The daal was the worst I have had in an Indian restaurant. I told the server that it is bitter and full of turmeric which I can literally taste in every bite but he didn’t do anything about it. We didn’t even have more than a spoon and managed to eat everything with the chicken curry left after eating it with the naan. The server then brings up the bill and when I told him to take the Daal off (15 Euros!) since we didn’t eat it at all and it was inedible, he replied I can’t do that and we have to pay whatever is on the Bill. The chef kept staring at us from the kitchen coz the restaurant literally the size of a living room. He didn’t say anything either. The worst part is that they bring piping hot food and some of it is still sizzling and the space is so small that all your clothes smell like Indian food when you leave. So help yourself and avoid this awful tourist trap...

I ordered via Uber and paid 61,76 for trash that ended in the waste. It‘s unbelievable what this restaurant delivered. Butterfly prawns: mega salty and cold. Note: I do eat very salty. When I say overly salty, it‘s completely over the top. Chicken tikka tandoori: no curry sauce, cold, dry chicken, raw belly pepper, raw onions. Literally uncooked. Garlic chicken tikka: chicken allover rubbed with masses of completely raw garlic grains, cold, dry chicken, no curry sauce, raw belly pepper, raw onions. Fanta: missing Both dishes contained zero sauce, just a puddle of oil. Weirdly seasoned, not balanced. And when I say that all dishes were cold, I don’t mean lukewarm but literally cold. I was speechless, mailed multiple times with Uber - no refund, just for the missing drink. I cannot even begin to express my disgust for you. How you DARE to treat people who pay you a lot of money. You are a disgrace. Shame on you. May you get back what you deserve.

We had dinner at Shah Jahan in Oct 2022 while visiting Amsterdam, and it was the best meal we had on our entire trip (even after 10 days in London and Dublin!). We made a reservation for 8pm on a Tuesday night and were glad we did — it was packed when we got there, which is always a sign of a great restaurant. The set meals were a good value and a nice way to get a sampling of various dishes. We ordered two different sets (which was enough to feed at least 3 people) — our favorites were the palak paneer (spinach with paneer cheese) and the chicken tikka masala, but everything was truly fabulous. Mango lassis were delicious too — not too sweet and good yogurt flavor. If we lived in Amsterdam this would be a go-to spot for us. Service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
