Unfortunately Amsterdam has historically suffered from bad service , allough in recent history this culture has changed somewhat as customers have come to expect a consistent level of friendliness and professionalism. Imagine my shock then when I visited Douwe Egberts Bijlmerplein on Saturday afternoon! This was like a Time Machine back to Amsterdam anno 1999 where the staff made you feel as welcome as a visit to the ‘IND’, Service was slow and unenthusiastic, there were enough staff working but they were more interested in pretending to work than actually helping anyone. There was a smell in the shop and a large number of tables had not been cleaned or had cups or food leftovers removed. It was a bad experience despite the size of the shop and its good location.
The prices are very high, a medium cup of tea costs 3.70€.
Even the cake with tea someone ate part of it before it was served to me.
I hope that more attention is paid to cleanliness, especially the bad smells in...
