Douwe Egberts Café Zandkasteel — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Unfortunately Amsterdam has historically suffered from bad service , allough in recent history this culture has changed somewhat as customers have come to expect a consistent level of friendliness and professionalism. Imagine my shock then when I visited Douwe Egberts Bijlmerplein on Saturday afternoon! This was like a Time Machine back to Amsterdam anno 1999 where the staff made you feel as welcome as a visit to the ‘IND’, Service was slow and unenthusiastic, there were enough staff working but they were more interested in pretending to work than actually helping anyone. just wanted to give you the scoop on this awesome new coffee joint. Seriously, it's the perfect spot to chill and enjoy your cup of joe. They've got loads of seats, but here's the kicker – there's only like 5 power sockets for the entire place. So, if you're thinking of getting your work hustle on, maybe not the best move.

Funny thing, lots of other coffee places nearby are all about that power socket game and warpspeed internet. But you know what? Honestly, it was a bad experience. The cashier wasn't good at talking to me. The tea I ordered was served in an unsanitary way. She was literally filling the tea with her hand and leaving it on the table without a saucer. There was a smell in the shop and a large number of tables had not been cleaned or had cups or food leftovers removed. It was a bad experience despite the size of the shop and its good location.

The prices are very high, a medium cup of tea costs 3.70€.

Even the cake with tea someone ate part of it before it was served to me.
