Unfortunately Amsterdam has historically suffered from bad service , allough in recent history this culture has changed somewhat as customers have come to expect a consistent level of friendliness and professionalism. Imagine my shock then when I visited Douwe Egberts Bijlmerplein on Saturday afternoon! This was like a Time Machine back to Amsterdam anno 1999 where the staff made you feel as welcome as a visit to the ‘IND’, Service was slow and unenthusiastic, there were enough staff working but they were more interested in pretending to work than actually helping anyone. If you wish to employ teenagers to serve adults then you really do need a supervisor on site to ensure that said teenagers do not behave like their work is some form of social occasion for the rest of us to...

just wanted to give you the scoop on this awesome new coffee joint. Seriously, it's the perfect spot to chill and enjoy your cup of joe. They've got loads of seats, but here's the kicker – there's only like 5 power sockets for the entire place. So, if you're thinking of getting your work hustle on, maybe not the best move.

Funny thing, lots of other coffee places nearby are all about that power socket game and warpspeed internet. But you know what? I've found my way back to my good ol' regular coffee spot around the corner. That DE café? Yeah, it's a cool spot to kick back and read a book, though. So, if you're into that, it's definitely...

Honestly, it was a bad experience. The cashier wasn't good at talking to me. The tea I ordered was served in an unsanitary way. She was literally filling the tea with her hand and leaving it on the table without a saucer. There was a smell in the shop and a large number of tables had not been cleaned or had cups or food leftovers removed. It was a bad experience despite the size of the shop and its good location.

The prices are very high, a medium cup of tea costs 3.70€.

Even the cake with tea someone ate part of it before it was served to me.

I hope that more attention is paid to cleanliness, especially the bad smells in...

*update: I have been coming here a lot and one point to note is that it is quite overpriced. 3,15 EUR for a small espresso, A small cappucino starts at 3,90 but if you chose a different milk expect +0,50 eur then if you want medium is +0,65 or big is + 1,30 EUR, so a “big” cappucino sets you off 5,70 EUR. Very expensive. Water is 3,20 EUR and it is super small. It is a lovely place, the coffee is great and they make fresh orange juice. The staff is friendly and helpful. This cafe was much needed in the area. It is nice that it is open until a little bit later.

A typical situation in the Netherlands: no cleaners and dirty toilets, with a sticky and filthy floor in the cafe area. P.S. These restrooms are located inside your cafe, deep in the back of the cafe area. That makes the situation even stranger—your cafe is quite spacious, yet for some reason you haven’t taken care to provide a clean and comfortable restroom for your customers. The one that does exist inside somehow isn’t considered yours, and you’ve completely disclaimed responsibility for its maintenance, even though it’s your customers who are using it.
