Read moreA lovely contemporary desserts and brunch place with decent specialty coffees (I think, they use mostly Five Ways), teas, matchas, and what not. The food is carefully balanced between creative/hip and simple. The desserts are at the level of chic snobbish restaurants - without the snobbish part (try Raspberry Choux! they balanced the typical sweetness of this pastry with the slight sourness of the berries!)
They seem to go an extra mile in eveything. Service is friendly and quick, over half of a year of regularly dropping by, I can't remember a single case of an order being mixed up or forgotten. You can often see the owner there, too: working, serving the customers, or just taking a break with a coffee.
The place is not cheap, but quite in line with other places in the area. No laptop policy is in effect on weekends, but I won't be surprized if they extend to the workdays, too: the place gets ever busier as locals...

Breakfast was enjoyable, with fresh ingredients and a clean, straightforward presentation. Service was efficient and polite, and the atmosphere had a calm, welcoming feel that made it a great place to start the day. One point of improvement: the croissants and other breads were displayed in the open air. While visually appealing, it would be more hygienic to keep them covered — either under glass or in a display case. A small detail, but an important one. Aside from that, everything else was on point. A solid place for a quality morning stop...
