I bought some quiches few weeks ago for €11,50 each. This week I ordered some quiches again. My husband went there to pick them up and this time the owner charged €14 for each quiche. I went there to ask about the price and the owner had an huge attitude towards me. First he shouted that he was 3 hours making quiches for myself, as he was doing me a favor. Very weird to say that specially because the day I made the order, I bought dinner for my family and he said he was going to make quiches anyway. I told him that if he can’t take an order he can just say that he’s busy and can’t make it. But it’s not correct to charge more money for the same food without telling me in advance. Then he started getting all the coins he had (10 and 20 cents coins) and giving it to me, shouting that he won’t make any order for me anymore. I was shocked! I even told him that I buy food from him every week, at least 3 times a week, and he said “not anymore”. I’m so disappointed! How greedy and rude this man can be. The food is pricey for the quality and he is super stressed all the time. I’m not the first person who complained, my neighbours also think the same. If the owner wants to make money he can open earlier and work on the weekends as well, but not overcharge. I retuned the quiches and asked for a refund. He called me few hours later saying that I think the world turns around me, but because he sold all the quiches he would refund my money. Today he saw me on the street, stopped me and asked me to remove this review because he already refunded my money. I don’t think it’s fair because he didn’t treat me...
Read moreAfter three years enjoying the best of Local Deli, I would be remiss if I didn't leave a review. This place kept me alive through the pandemic - and that is not an exaggeration. I think at least 2-3x a week I ordered lunch from here, and it gave me a nutritious, generously portioned meal with tasty veggie sides and deliciously seasoned entrees. I didn't get sick for 2.5 years - probably because of all the veggies I ate from this place (*legal disclaimer, it was actually because I just stayed home and didn't see a soul, but I'm sure that the great meals didn't hurt). I ordered so much from them in the course of 2 years that in fact, that I should have just invested in this place.
Fast forward to the after-Covid days where we're all out and about, and it's still my favorite lunch spot in Oud Zuid and here are three reasons why:
Friendly: The medewerkers are fantastic. Customer service is super helpful, fast and approachable. Flexibility: You can make your own meal from the various side dishes, they have excellent warm and cold sandwiches and they have a rotating menu of full dishes (think chicken with veggie sides, burritos with rice, mouthwatering lasagne, etc.) The taste: Most importantly! It just tastes good. I have not had a single thing that I didn't like (and let me tell you, over the course of 2 at-home years, I tried a lot of their food). And it's just good clean eating.
I don't know what magic they are cooking up in their kitchens, but how they aren't packed out the door every day is a mystery! Eat in or take away... either choice is a good one if you're...
Read moreGreat sandwich place! They have a nice variety of options with many sandwiches centered around Italian ingredients: finocchiona, coppa di Parma, porchetta… so that’s very nice. The combinations we took (caprese jamon and finocchiona) were very tasty. The atmosphere is great, inside they have space to sit but also some tables outside! Location is very nice, just behind Vondelpark. They also have a lot of Italian dishes in general, not only sandwiches. We’ve not tried them but they looked solid, so it seems a very nice deli! Only thing are the prices for the sandwiches which are all around 8/9 euro, it’s somewhat fair but prolly slightly overpriced compared to the portion. Overall super recommended! Prices as...
